Trance is the future classical music.
Classical way back then was underapreciated and suffered much criticism.
hmm, doesn't this remind you of what we are going through now, when we try to introduce this to our family and friends that are stuck on the hip hop, rap, mainstream top 40's.
When I was a kid, my father made me lie on the floor near the speakers and listen to classical--I was supposed to imagine a string travelling thru my body at the hi and low points of the music.
The only other music that I can do that to is Trance |

Nope. Trance will always be trance, Classical will always be classical (both to some extent) because we're just talking about genres here. And as far as the whole emotion thing goes; I hold that one emotion can surface from any music depending on the listener... it's difficult to quantify this argument since everyone's emotional responses to music are so vastly different, and for all sorts of different reasons. And then there's the aardvark crouching in the corner of my room, it's freaking the out of me. But back to music... I went through a six year period where all I could listen to was prog trance and house... up until a couple of years ago I swore by it. And now that I've stepped back a little I've realized that music just is. Yeah there are different feels to diffent musics, obviously, but the you really feel down to the core is all raw and all accessibly by any sort of music. this is a rant, I'm done.

| "trance" will never be considered classical music. As classical music is named as such because it's derived from the classical period in history. IE Mozart and Hydn, Beethoven is Romantic. Plus trance cannot hold a candle to the complexity and creativity of classical music or romantic music. |

| I don't think trance will ever be called classical. The differences between classical music and trance are too big. For example trance is just too inhuman: all the beats and leads are spot on while classical is played by us humans which makes it feel moore, how would i put it "real". |

| Sorry to say it guys trance is nothing in comparison to classical other than it being music.... The complexity is very limited compared to something written by Chopin for instance..... I love dance music and all but it will never have the longevity that classical music has..... |

Give it time.
I consider the dj's to be every bit of the same passion as that of Mozart or Chopin. So in essence, they are the future Mozarts.
Classical can never be replaced. But Trance is definately the new classical music of the future.

I guess no one here has ever actually listened to Classical music to appreciate it as well as Trance or Electronic music.
There are so many genres of Classical for people to make broad statements about something they never sat down to listen to.

I guess you weren't a DJ/Producer? Neither was I but I wouldn't make a statement like that.

Another person that probably was not a DJ. To be able to move a crowd in Electronic is similar to Classical.
Besides wasn't it Enigma that gave us Sadeness with it's Gregorian chant that made it as a hit? Who says it isn't possible. |

Wrong! I listen to both.
I enjoy many classics like Johann Strauss, Bach, Mozart, Rossini, Schubert, tchaikovsky, vivaldi etc. etc..even Baroque. I enjoy them all when I'm in the mood.
Both classically trained and also closely involved with dj's. That is why I feel strongly about Trance--it will be regarded in the future years as the modern classics. But ppl can't see that yet. Maybe those that are juliard trained might see it, and some people that are willing to open thier minds a little more.
Trance inspires, evolves and stirs the emotions (with or without vocals), which is exactly what classical music does to it's listeners. Longevity has made classical music a respected art form. I'm hoping that Trance will live long enough to do the same.

I think this will hold true as the years go by .. It is true that back then, classical music did not get the type of rave reviews that it gets now .. I am not going to hold trance music by itself, but stand for the whole electronic genre as a whole (house, breakbeat, trance, ambient, trip hop, drum n bass, etc .. sorry if i missed a genre)
but i do know that electronic music has not gotten to the stage of piano concertos, and violent quartets, and excellent wood instrumentals .. but can we judge electronic music by the way the producer lays down a beat ? how he creatively sits in a room for hours creating some special beat to run us wild for years to come (unlike some djs who take other people's beats .. not naming who .. ) .. but yes i do see electronic music as the next type of music to be at the same type of level as classical music .. i dont see electronic music replacing classical music, because nothing will .. but at the same level of achievement.
and yes it is frightening to see rap and hip hop stuff 10 years later .. i heard vanilla ice and snow on a old 80s/90s contemporary station!! i was like .. man music sucked back then too!! :haha: :haha: :haha: |

| lol i've had this disscusion with like 10 other people. EDM is still evolving, i think its true that Classical/Romantic/Barouqe period music is alot more complexe but if trance ever hits that kind comlexity... just...wow... |
