Me and my friend were just talking about how music differs etc as we like to talk about philosophy, world today, etc just basicaly something to yap about.

Now on the topic, you all must know how the "Older" generation refers to our "New age" music as bunch of banging beats and just a toothace in general.

When they were youn im sure their parents were saying the same about music they were listening to.

Sooo, can this mean that , how we refer to Bethoven etc as "Classical" music, our children will refer to Trance etc as "Classical" also ??
Bondor

classical will always be referred to as classical.

electronic music... well.. electronic music.

It won't be replaced by classical. They may have similar connotations, but the word itself won't be replaced.

Kinda like art. New age art used to be called avant-garde. Now its called neo-modernism. It means the same thing, but a different word is used for each time period.

What scares me is that in 60 years all the oldie stations will be playing rap.

What makes me laugh is that oldies stations will be playing Britney and Christina.

And Electronic music will be the new classical.

Haha Electronic will never be called classical, it doesn't really compare in the big picture. What elcontronic has been around since what maybe the 80's at earliest, and how long has classical been around, not to sure but a hell of a lot longer.

It will be funny when oldie stations will be playing hip hop though.

I think trance will be the new classical because both genres are appreciated for the emotion attached to the actual sound of the music.

I always compare electronic music as modern classical when describing the composition of songs and so on...

but calling electronic classical in itself, no.

;)
