The lyrics arent really that great, too simple and cliched which is a shame. I really love the song, mainly because of Justine's voice, which i think is quite beautiful and haunting. And also because of A&B's uplifting style, which some people call 'cheese' simply because they don't like it, but i think it's quite effective for the type of tune it's trying to be; uplifting. But yah, the lyrics could be better.

Can you explain this terror? Trance has many variations i thought?

Far from best

Actually I prefer the original by Tasmin Archer.
I think it's really bad, didn't like it at all. Maybe without vocals, but then again, I can't remember any melody.
I might even delete it from my hd.

There are way better tracks out there.
But hey, If you like it it's all good:)

Trance is having less and less variation as productions like Satellite suffocate the environment with their overbearing commericialism. That so many people like Satellite and even consider it decent trance is indicative that we're losing a war. This is a war between what's left of trance and what marketers so desperately want it to be. I have no problem if people enjoy europop-inspired garbage with borrowed, prepackaged epic trance synths. Go ahead, burn them on a CD and hum along in your car. But this is not trance. I'm terrified because all manner of people seem to think it is, and that's a deathknell for the music I enjoy. Trance is subtle, moody, and hypnotic, hence the name. None of those three adjectives apply to Satellite. It's a shallow, faux-emotional cut of europop which exploits a watered-down epic trance formula that has existed for years. It's emotional in the way that a Valentine's Day candy heart is emotional.

I mean, here's some perspective: Mercury & Solace. The mood and texture that track leaves Satellite looking like a toddler who has tripped in the sand versus a marathon runner. But in some circles even Mercury & Solace was once considered commerical! I mean, dear god, get some perspective! Trance is about something so much deeper than trite melodic lines with cheap, insipid, catchy vocals. The genre has been caught in the gravity of money, and some of us are desperately trying to keep it from completely falling in. Have some respect for this music. Satellite is the star example of how trance is being further prostituted on the altar of mainstream taste. Do you really believe that Suissa's voice is somehow distinctive here? Do you really feel there's any depth at all? It's the musical equivalent of junk food. Like I said, I have no problem if people like it. People like Britney Spears, and I don't hold it against them, because people get different things out of their music than I necessarily do. Some people want something shallow to escape into, or to sing along with. That's their perogative. But for goodness sake, stop conflating it with trance. Because that's not what this music is.

I can respect your definition of trance, i love it how you've snuck in the discreet insults too. You probably don't worry too much about my point of view when you have such a strong belief of what you consider trance, so i won't bother too much explaining my POV (it's all about POV's). But it just sounds geeky, and snobish, there are variations to trance and im sure i like a lot of the stuff you like, but satellite is trance, in another variation.

Oh how it pisses me off when you say to get some perspective, i mean UGHH, how presumptious, who are you? You have your view of trance and i have mine, and both are just as valid, you probably think "" of my view, but i think the same of yours.

AND you saying have some respect for this music, i cannot begin to tell you the rage i feel for that comment, don't be presumptious!! I have very, very broad taste when it comes to trance music, and am very sure i like what you like aswell.

I could say stop taking this all so seriously, it's just a song, but i know you don't really care. I don't think it rings any deathknells if there are people out there like you who enjoy trance music of your definition, i don't see how satellite could stop people producing songs with a more deeper meaning, people make what they want to make.

But just sooooo 'whatever' really...different POV'S, just dear God don't be presumptious about me, really irritating.

(And yes i do think Justine's voice is beautiful and distinctive, and no there isnt much depth to the lyrics, but it's still a nice TRANCE tune. I'm in no way saying its the best in tune i've ever heard, or the best female vocals of all time, but it's nice for what it is.)

I should have added the disclaimer that I was speaking in generalities. "You" as I was using it does not mean you. I wasn't attempting to single out your individual perspective, and I was not in any way trying to direct anger at you personally. I was simply making a declaration of how I feel about the state of trance and how this track relates to that.

Feel free to critcize my opinion, but I'm sorry my statements came across as personal insult. I don't know anything about your tastes individually, so of course it would make no sense to presume them.

Sure, it's nice for what it is, depending on what you value in music. I don't have a problem with people liking Satellite. But calling it trance is like calling Spam fine meat.

Snobishness and elitism is what's ruining trance music.

If i may borrow a quote "Such narrow mindedness annoys the hell out of me, it's like, just grow up and take your head out of your own arse". (-g- from anjuna beats).

I think that says it all don't you?

Just cuz you don't like it doesn't mean it's not trance, just cuz it doesn't fit into your definition of trance, doesnt mean it's not trance.

That is all.

Some people take music very seriously, it's their life. I know this because music runs my life. From when I'm emotional, to chillin', to wanting to party my ass off. He is taking this seriously because utter productions to his eyes (because satellite isn't pure trash IMO, I enjoy a very broad range of genres; although prog is my fav) are killing what he truly believes in. No one wants something they truly love to get trashed by some punks who could care less. You are entitled to your opinions though. Anyways, that's life...
