[Review] PvD at Vision

well, what should i say? PvD at Vision was awesome. Vision is such a better venue than HoB :whip: or Transit. I had an amazing time; he played some nice new beats (although he also did stick to some classics) and I think the atmosphere was really, really good. I didn't feel that packed in on the second floor at all (unlike at AvB). (i'll post more later, but now sleep)
Lam (PvD_Fanatic), it was nice to meet you and your fiance. I hope you enjoyed Chicago and obviously a night with PvD is always going to turn out a good night. Hopefully we'll meet up at Roxy in nyc sometime or you come back here.
also, Seneca, it was great to finally meet you. best of luck, and I really hope your track is going to be on PvD's next tracklist.
as for the others, I wish I could've met up with more of you. We need to work on some way that we can contact each other for future events...

hooooooooooly f*ck :) PvD owned me... what a night...
and what a surprise to get a 3+ hour set... From what I saw, it looks like the third hour was a suprise... anyone know for sure?
and the CO2 guns are wicked :) I hope they are a regular addition to the saturday night lineup.
What a night! I went in with such low expectations and was so thoroughly impressed! yay!
I'll leave the ID'ing up to better people than myself.

I didn't expect much going into this as I thought it was going to be ridiculously overcrowded with a short 'cookie-cutter' PvD set but I was completely floored last night.
Mazi started out with a great mix which included some records I'd really like to get my hands on, built the mood perfectly for Jerry Bonham who absolutely destroyed the place. His mixing was spot on and he threw in some monster tracks (my first time hearing Ride live , even though I'm somewhat sick of it, was killer!)
And for all of us who thought that 1-3 was going to be the case - who expected 1:30 - 4:50 !? What a ing set. From techno to tech house, acid house, hard trance and some stomping trancers I was shocked at Paul's performance. One of my top 3 club nights without a doubt. I think I was only on the dancefloor for about 5 minutes total since I had a prime spot on the 3rd floor balcony right behind Paul to watch him mix and look over the entire crowd. All I can say is that the first time that C02 blew when nobody expected - !?!?! ing nuts. I can't do much for the t/l because I, well, was too f'd to be perfectly honest but here's my go:

Umm yeah that's all I can really remember at this point. Maybe while I recover more I'll remember some more. All in all it was an awesome night, I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did.
The one thing that pissed me off - I was getting my phone signed by Paul at the end and as I handed it to him some big ing bouncer started shoving me telling me I had to leave. He wouldn't even let me stand there for 2 seconds to get my phone signed and get it back.
Rawr.

Part of me wishes I had gone in and camped out by the door to the main room for 3 hours.
But getting a good 8 hours of sleep for the first time in over a week was, in the end, a better course of action.
Glad to see those of you that had presales had a good time.

P.S. I dare say Paul was really enjoying his time up there... he gave off a really good vibe. Plus I had my little eye contact / thumbs up around 4:00. As dumb as it sounds, kinda gave me my second wind. |

Yes - the extended set was a surprise. I was told that after doing the sound check in the afternoon - PvD decided he wanted to spin longer so the set times were revised to reflect that, b/c his contract does say that he will only spin for 2 hours.
The only one that said hi to me in the ticket line was RobDeep - what happened to everyone else? I only had to work from 9:30 to midnight or so.
Glad to hear that everyone had a good time - I spent the entire night downstairs in the Lair listening to Mazi, Kyle and Brian spin some great house - it was like having our own private party.
Also, did anyone else notice that AvB is spinning an extended set in May?! On the flyer for AvB it said special extended set - wtf? His sets are usually 3-4 hours at Vision - maybe we'll get a 5 hour set? |
