I was thinking...

Do you guys think PvD was better when nobody but him played his music -- when PvD tracks were exclusive to PvD. Do you think this has led to his "downfall" at all?

PvD has had a ton of hits, but prior to Reflections, I really don't remember any other Trance DJs playing his tunes. I mean, when have you ever heard anyone else play Another Way, Forbidden Fruit, Tell Me Why, etc... But nowadays everyone and their mom plays NBY, Crush, and TOOL.

now dont get ty cos its me,,ok....all the visions of shiva stuff was class,,,sasha and digweed used to play the out of them tunes,,,,sasha used to have for an angel in his box at all times...i honestly dont think PVD would be anything without the backing of them two,,Sasha was playing PVD tunes in 93.....I think that the music press has been responsible for turning this guy into a dick....Trance was made too easily accessible to the mainstream..Paul just became a popstar marketed on his looks rather than his talent..Before you knew it 10 year old children were buying PVD CD's..I think PVD adhered to the "if it aint broke,,dont fix it rule' and stuck with the normal formulaic bull rather than becoming more innovative and pushing the scene on to another level....

Listen to Paul van Dyk @ Rosenmontagsrave [11-02-2002], this set is absolutely immaculate. This set was probably the pivot point in his career from which everything started to go downhill.

you're right. this has been and will be my favorite set of all time. something about it flows like nothing else i have ever heard. i wont hate on paul because he is still one of my favs, but i will agree that he has gone downhill. either that or maybe my taste is changing a bit.
sandstorm03
its funny how you all say that hes gone down hill, but dont have any way to support this...
Vlad
The proof is in his past sets.
sandstorm03
not really...
trancEyes22
people, there will NEVER be any way of either sides trying to prove each other wrong. it is all in personal taste. one person may think pvd has gone downhill, while another may think hes gotten better. it's a moot point. lee, we know you love pvd...but there are people who don't as much as you, and that is perfectly okay. you don't have to fight to the death with everyone about it.
Vlad
Lee, you obviously cant hear the difference... but many others, as well as me, can hear the difference.

Im not even trying to prove to Lee that he sucks, Im just trying to show him that the pvd now, isnt the same pvd as 2-3+ years ago.

please tell me the difference between paul now and 3 years ago. dont tell me to go listen to an older set, ive heard them 100's of times. right now pauls harder stuff is amazing, better then his "epicer" trance of 2000.
