btw, what is river city ransom? i hear there is a "matrix reloaded" trailer using the engine of River City Ransom. sprites are nice! |
It's a side scroller for the original NES. One of my favorite games ever.
Btw your idea sounds great, interested in seeing how it turns out. |

i'm only using RPG Maker to code the battle system. As it is too simple to implement all my ideas, the rest will be programmed and tweaked under Visual Studio VB6. As i've stated earlier, the battle engine is going to be very unique and i stand by it (considering i get paid to come up with and program unique software).
paranoik0,
i've already taken all that into account. music and playlists are the essentials to the battle system. I am only having problems with a few functions like Recovery (which is a balance issue) along with a few other exploits that i need to patch up. the only other issue in my head is the size of the program and the decision to use either OGG or MP3 format |

suggestions:
there MUST be club hotties, and interactions with these. also, hot female DJ's you must compete with now and then.
make stage "bosses" be big name DJs. ahve the first one be a friend of yours, who taught you how to mix. before you can beat him, you can't move on. if you like, let him go easy on you, since even though he is unknown, he's an excellent DJ that could hit it with the pros.
bastardous club promoters you have to pressure to get your money.
record shopping.
gear shopping. (have us start with X amount of money, and send us to the DJ store, have various products there, from tt's, mixers, effects units, to cd decks. our gear could affect how high we could score on set quality)
gear damages (breaking stylus, shot mixer, crackling faders, fluttering turntables, etc)
one of your friends that goes to see you at the club gets into a fight. you must fight side by side him in the back alley.
drug dealing happening in the club you play. police raid.
car breaks down on your way to the club.
flying from country to country for gigs.
great producers asking you for collaborations.
small house parties with your friends and brushes with good local DJs.
thats it for now.
basically, i'd like it to be a sort of GTA but DJing oriented. instead of doing jobs for gangsters, you go to clubs and mix :p |

true. but just imagine, you're DJing, you step outside, beat some dude to a bloody pulp to save your mate from getting his ass kicked. then you go back in, and start hitting on one of the hot gogo dancers, and as the DEA raids the club, you leave in your uberleet sports car with the dancer to your appartment, only after bitchslapping the promoter to make him cough up your pay. the next day you take your newly earned cash and go to the dj/record shop, and buy an ortofon nightclub to replace the one you had to leave at the club so the cops wouldn't catch you. with the rest, you start browsing records. you then remember about that crackling fader on your Vestax mixer, and go get it to bring it in for repairs. we can't have crackling at tonight's house party. that night, DJ SuperLocalMusicMixer shows up and you must compete in a vs set. who can get the crowd pumping better? you own him abusing your Korg Kaoss Pad. then, this uberhot female DJ comes in and mixes a storm of a set that has you both begging for mercy. you then discover this is Mistress Barbara, and she liked your set, and invites you to go spin at Sven Vath's new club in germany, where she will be headlining in...
ok, you get the picture. i always go overboard, but we can all dream can't we? |
