suggestions:

there MUST be club hotties, and interactions with these. also, hot female DJ's you must compete with now and then.

make stage "bosses" be big name DJs. ahve the first one be a friend of yours, who taught you how to mix. before you can beat him, you can't move on. if you like, let him go easy on you, since even though he is unknown, he's an excellent DJ that could hit it with the pros.

bastardous club promoters you have to pressure to get your money.

record shopping.

gear shopping. (have us start with X amount of money, and send us to the DJ store, have various products there, from tt's, mixers, effects units, to cd decks. our gear could affect how high we could score on set quality)

gear damages (breaking stylus, shot mixer, crackling faders, fluttering turntables, etc)

one of your friends that goes to see you at the club gets into a fight. you must fight side by side him in the back alley.

drug dealing happening in the club you play. police raid.

car breaks down on your way to the club.

flying from country to country for gigs.

great producers asking you for collaborations.

small house parties with your friends and brushes with good local DJs.

thats it for now.

basically, i'd like it to be a sort of GTA but DJing oriented. instead of doing jobs for gangsters, you go to clubs and mix :p

i like your idea, it would be like GTA except you'd have something to spend your money on
i think this is a really good idea
the program could possibly tell if you're beatmatching properly by the peak volumes of the beats

a multiplayer option would be cool, you could go back to back or do individual sets and the game would score you on transitions

of course mp3 would be better, and you'd have to be able to play your own collection of tunes (unlock them with the money you earn)

ok, so who knows how to make GTA mods? :p

damn w32.sasser

actually, the virus wasn't that bad compared to Mcafee. I had the virus. i downloaded mcafee. I got rid of the virus. and now my cable modem is . after searching for a reliable troubleshoot, i'd heard so many people getting performance after installing mcafee. I already deleted it and went into the registry and all. ugh, annoying. don't worry, the project is still alive. i'm just a lil annoyed

This whole thing sounds sweet, I really hope that you keep with it man. I am studying Visual Communications and of you need help with a couple graphics, I am sure that I could lend some help.

GTA3? count me out of that. one, i don't really like the 3d version of GTA, i prefer the sprites :)
Plus, there are way too many instructions and variables to tweak. Plus, it's a bitch to code, and then spend 5 minutes loading the game to see if it worked. UGH!

anyways, i am thinking about making the beta a bit more than just 1 battle. The whole "intro" section sounds fair, no?

its been a couple of days and no post, I dont want this to sink its sounds way to cool. I hope this project is still progressing.

would be pretty schweeet if he actually did make this a GTA3 mod, but i don't see that happening. maybe in the future we will bribe him with VIP tickets to see James Zabiela and he'll ablige us. in the meanwhile, we can still constantly nag him with our ideas.

new idea:

"Rampage" style missions, where you have a time limit to pick up your gear, get to a house and start spinning before the people get there. you get X amount of points for getting there on time, the quicker you're there, the better. then, a normal battle set.

online multiplayer would be sweet, and as vito said, using your own mp3s would own. you could go to the record shop, and the mp3's you have show up in the record bins. you have to buy them to use em. this would come in handy for a multiplayer, as a 3rd player could come in and act as a "judge" (ie, the judges would be the crowd, and they could dance/go nuts, etc, giving points to the current guy spinning)

vito
if you could find people to listen to the battles online (like shoutcast) they could rate each transition from 1 to 10 and the points would go to whoever was spinning at the time, more points = winner
i dont think that would work, especially if the people can't mix to a very good level

a better idea for online play would be a mission where the players have to reach a club and are given staggered instructions on how to get there (like one of the missions on gta3 where you drive phone to phone) and whoever gets to the club first does a set and gets a nice fat paycheck

another mission could be like the drunk driving one in vice city
for some reason you take acid and everything goes weird and you hallucinate things, could do basically anything from there, use your imagination
or crank and everything seems more intense or quicker
weed, the music sounds better (a plugin could be used to filter the mp3s or something)

if anyone knows a trance/house/prog lover who mods gta they should point out this thread

i like the way you guys think...seriously...i would buy this game if it was like GTA hehehe...and i'm not really a gamer...

this needs to be on PS2...who knows someone at the company?

another idea:

they could sell a controller that works like final scratch. it would have digital turntables and a simple mixer in one, i don't know how realistic that is.

you would have to have personalized record boxes for battles, but perhaps you could also do a battle where you have to switch record boxes and see who can do better with the others records.

the international aspect would be awesome. you could be able to fly to different cities. what would make it even sweeter would be if you could simulate real clubs into the game. so amnesia in ibiza looks like amnesia in ibiza.

you could also have festival missions like loveparade and the like where you do something, not too sure.

also if you could have the ability to design your DJ with different clothes and stuff like a sports game. or maybe even like those games where you can load your own face into it.

seriously...this has a lot of potential to be an amazing game. we need to propose this to some company. i mean we could do some kind of joint venture with macintosh and you could do some kind of mp3 thing from itunes or something.
