I have decided to get back into Djing after a few years off the decks. im just wondering if CD is the way to go this time,considering the price of records Vs ease of downloading tunes..which Cd players do you suggest i look at and also mixers...

thanx for your help ...

*twitches*

I have nothing against CDJ'ing, at all, and have done it myself a couple of times. Fun, fun stuff. Can do some interesting things.

However. "Downloading tunes." .WAV only. MP3 sounds like ultra- at anything less than 256 kbps on a club system, and everyone knows something's wrong, even if they don't know what.

In any case...I'm a fan of the Pioneer CDJ-1000's, but the Numarks are good, too. Mixers...eh, ask someone else. :crazy:

yea i was thinking about the problems with sound quality, is it hard to find good quality tracks ?

Buy the CD singles, or buy the vinyl and rip it to good quality .wav yourself. Spinning downloaded tracks (without permission from the producer) is for losers. It's not really helpful to the EDM scene either.

How will you find wav quality in the net? Impossible, noone in his right mind would share wav tracks (7 minutes = 70 megs!).

releaserecords.com has some mp3s to download (mostly house/prog) some quality stuff over there I bought a few, they're 256kps and they're great actually I think the bass for instance is much better than most of my CD-Singles..

Going to throw in my two cents into this thread....

=======================

Ok.. First off, theres nothing wrong with ANYONE spinnin cd's. Those that throw-up, gack, or look the other way when it comes to cd talk, well, you obviously arent a DJ or you dont know jack .

Now at the same point, sure cds can have its downfall (rather bad in some way) if you plan on going pro, spinning in major clubs, or producing huge. Most clubs out there still cater to the vinyl and rather prefer the average DJ to spin on vinyl when doing shows for them.

On the other hand, vinyl is more expensive and harder to keep up when searching for rare tracks, remixes, etc etc. Sometimes its easy, but its the long hours of searching online or at your local records store for the exact record you've been searching for months.

With CD's, it can still be expensive if you choose to go the buyers route and buy all your tracks and music. (Which would be the "respectfull way". :)

Now if you want to be cheesey and cheat yourself, then CDS could and can be the cheapest and easiest way to DJ. You can store multiple tracks on one cd, download your music and all your rare tracks you thought you could never find, online. You can use software to boost up the tempo, quality of the sound to the point that it sounds 5x's better than vinyl and avoid all the expense of buying the music on vinyl.

Bottom line...........take your pick... Theres nothing wrong with spinnin on whichever. It all boils down to whether you are going to be respectful to yourself and to others.

Of course.......you could always go digital and use a laptop as well, but good luck getting anywhere in the pro leages....lol
