In the words of George - diagnosis: Irrelevant opinion!

IMO he posts these things with the intention to start drama. It's pretty apparent that he doesn't write things simply to initiate a discussion.

Smack My Bitch Up is a classic song.

Okay, I'm getting in on this a little late but I'm gonna toss my .02 in too.

He said he bought it, and was expecting more breakbeats, etc. (i don't remember exactly what he said, that was 2 pages ago).

Listen. My advice to you is, find out what you're buying, BEFORE you purchase it. I respect the fact that everyone has their own different musical preferences, but don't blame others because you were a dumbass who didn't know what you were buying.

If I don't know an artist, and someone suggests them to me... if I go buy that cd/album/whatever, without researching it first... MY FAULT.

Anyway. Carry on.

Oh, and this thread is .

i personally dont think your gonna get any better than the experience album... a perfect representation of old skool dance music

I agree! Experience is such a classic album. I can still listen to it from start to finish to this day! Jilted Generation was good too, but I didn't really dig any of their later stuff once they blew up. popular doesn't always mean good! (in fact in a lot of cases the two are mutually exclusive.)
Bemps
early prodigy rocked. I've only heard the single from their most recent album and it seemed pretty lame

If he would have just said "I don't like it" it would have been one thing. But to say this...

I bought their album "Fat Of The Land". I don't like it. I can't see how anybody likes it. Maybe it's their private joke, to see how many people they can fool into buying ?
Seriously, everybody, admit it. You don't like them. You only say you do.

Examples: Breathe, Diesel Power (lyrics, even!), Firestarter

THAT is just plain ridiculous.

Hey look, it's the "bash everything popular to appear cool and alternative" type again.

You say their music has no tune. Have you heard Voodoo People, No Good or Out of Space? They all have more complicated melodies than most trance anthems.

Crap breakbeats? Firestarter and Smack My Bitch Up have two of the best breakbeats ever, not merely an old Amen Break sample with different instruments.

You ing suck, trancecracker (always wanted to say that).

And to all you others, yes, I will make a thread everytime I listen to something that people say is good but really is horrible.

I admit i thought fat of the land was a bit of a let down, but i do own a copy of music for the jilted generation, which is one of my oldest cd's and introduced me to the genre, so i dont think you should judge prodigy on the basis of fat of the land, try the earlier stuff first.
RubiK Cube
Prodigy are excellent. Fat of the Land wasnt heir best, Jilted Generation is imo, but it is still great and very groundbreaking for when it was released

Wow your just now listening to The Fat of Land, that is so 7 years ago. But I bet you would have liked it when it came out and when Mtv aired their videos (back when Mtv was decent), but still no excuses as to not likeing it. But you should give Music For the Jilted Generation a try or better yet Experience.
Shudder
gilted gen. i think is their best album. the music seems to be ahead of its time. fat of the land... it could have been better but tracks like narayan were pretty damn good for an album of 1997
