I run once or twice a week to maintain my body
i look pretty good

anyways im wondering

people who get on atkins diet have long term (-) effects because of low carbs

my question is

wuts better?

buying something that is low carb high fat...e.g. a bag of new doritos 4 net gram of carb with 12 grams of fat

or buying a bag of baked potato chips with only 3grams of fat
and 22 carb

I thought high fat was bad...?

wtf

Asking what kind of chips are better for you is like asking if you wanna be punched in the head or the gut.

I don't think Atkins claims cutting carbs is healthier or will make you live longer, he just says drastically reducing your intake of carbs and sugars will allow you to lose weight. The assumption is that if you lose weight and aren't obese that in itself is more healthy.

If you want to know why read his book.

all people on the atkins diet should slip and hit their heads on something and start thinking straight.

i agree, i feel that the atkins diet along with the south beath diet are the most ridculous diet fads. ffs, stop this obsession with losing weight (not directed at your speed) and trying to do it through a shortcut. just eat a balanced meal in smaller portions and hit the gym everyday for 40 min or no and you should be fine.

Exactly...since when does it make sense that a diet which breaks all conventional diet rules will somehow work? It's like Dr. Nick's diet:

Dr. Nick: "On my diet, you can eat whatever you want, whenever you want!"
Marge: "And you'll still lose weight???"
Dr. Nick: "Ahh, you might! It's a free country!"

It has actually been proven to work. The only question left unanswered is the long-term health effects. One of the key findings of Atkins is that the consumption simple carbs and refined sugars leads to weight gain and in general isn't healthy.

So many idiots go on "fad diets" because the world is doing it and they think since they eat healthy, they can sit on their asses 24/7. As I've often stated, I went to my doctor and lost 53 pounds in 2 years, safely and healthy. I run 6-7 times a week and average 3-4 miles per time. I eat between 1500-1800 calories a day and I consider myself in shape.

So see a doctor imo and get them to help you or a nutrionist.

I cut out the following to lose weight

-salt (crackers with salt, I don't eat), I don't put salt onto my fries and I don't eat cup of soup or cup of noodle.
-Beer (yes for some it is impossible, I gave it up because it had too many calories)
-no potato chips

Added
-more fruits
-I make better meal choices
-Drink 8 glasses min of water a day
-daily exercise

I view healthy eating + exercise helps you lose weight, unless you have tremendous metabolism problems.

I mean I'm almost to a point where I won't gain or lose weight. I've stopped losing weight because my body has hit a certain place I guess.

My advice...scrap the atkins diet

eat right and eat healthy and your body will feel more energy and better. I know I did
