I'd ditch the DJM-600 for the XONE 464...
I'd ditch the SHURE Whitelabels for the ORTOFON OM NCS...
I'd ditch the HDJ-1000 for the SEIN-25... |

Are you serious?!
That thing is HUGE! The title os this thread is "Good bedroom dj setup...". What on earth would he use all those channels for? I would personally get the Xone-62 or Xone-92 if you want to get crazy.
Anyway, regarding the original post...
Like everyone says ditch the Pioneer mixer, get an Allen & Heath.
Definitly get the active monitors if you need to buy an amp anyway.
I am not quite sure why you need the Pioneer CD recorder, but if you need it I guess you could get it.
The Shures or the Ortofons come down to preference, I like the Ortofons personally but they are both solid.
If you need to I would skimp on the decks, like maybe get M3Ds, or Mk5s instead if you can find them cheaper.
Headphones are a very personally choice but I always hear great things about the Seins.
What the hell is the "Cosmetic Stand"? |

how about a 24-bit sound card for your laptop.
While the 16-bit onboard soundcard will work, the 24-bit soundcard is much better because the Analog to Digital convertor will use more data to re-sample your analog audio, thus you will get a better re-sampled reproduction of what your are playing into your computer to record.
16-bit soundcard for regular consumers, 24-bit soundcard for professional production.
Others on TA have mentioned a PCMCIA ECHO INDIGO 24-bit card. You may want to try a breakout box that has a 24-bit Analog-digital convertor going through either a USB or firewire connection. |

Thanks! Haha, yeah I just quoted what was in an advertisement... it's a table. :D By the way, anyone have any good recommendations for tables in a bedroom? I don't think vibration would be an issue for my bedroom, right? |

Ah, great idea! Yeah I'm thinking of ditching the CD recorder since I can just stream it all digitally to my computer.... so what are some good recommendations for the hardware? I will research that PCMCIA echo indigo, thanks!
Is there something better for desktops?

I personally like the ECHO brand stuff, but everyone has their own preference.
Look for a 24-bit soundcard , that has balanced inputs [either using 1/4" TRS or XLR connections] (also make sure you also buy a DJ mixer that has balanced outputs for the lowest noise.)
Other stuff to look at:
M-audio - audiophile 24/96
Alesis
Digidesign - mbox
theres probably a whole bunch... just do a search on google for "24-bit PCI professional"
The PCI card I use is the ECHO MIA 24/96 card. IT was only 125$. Other PCI card that have their own separate processor may cost like 800$.
I do recommend a card that at-least uses the balanced 1/4" TRS input vs. the noisy 1/8" minijack. |

geez... that's lots of cash just for a regular setup. I too would go for a xone:92 over a djm-600 hands down. I also perfer the rane empath over the djm. As for speakers, check out the event 20/20 or tr8. I would also stick w/ whitelabels b/c they're solid all round and have very little cue burn. BTW if your just starting out, try not to spend too much on equipment. Don't forget you need records too.
Oh yeah another thing. The mk5G may be a bit overkill. When mixing i NEVER go past 6% on the pitch. Unless you are planing on doing a lot of pitch tricks while scratching (which i doubt you are based on gear selection) I wouldn't spend the extra $100 on the turntable upgrade.
Just get regular MK5 and spend the extra $200 on records. |

I've already bought 180 vinyls without any equipment! :D Crazy, I know... but I have my reasons, lol.

I just wanted to make sure you had vinyl :) when i started 4 years ago i didn't have any records so my turntables stayed unused for a month. Just wanted to make sure your 1200s won't collect dust :) |

| I have to laugh at everyone who thinks the DJM600 is crap. First of all, I like the layout on a Pioneer much better. I also like the more precise sound level LEDs. The sound quality is great and the price is in line as well. I have no complaints with mine whatsoever. |
