That thing is HUGE! The title os this thread is "Good bedroom dj setup...". What on earth would he use all those channels for? I would personally get the Xone-62 or Xone-92 if you want to get crazy.

Anyway, regarding the original post...
Like everyone says ditch the Pioneer mixer, get an Allen & Heath.
Definitly get the active monitors if you need to buy an amp anyway.
I am not quite sure why you need the Pioneer CD recorder, but if you need it I guess you could get it.
The Shures or the Ortofons come down to preference, I like the Ortofons personally but they are both solid.
If you need to I would skimp on the decks, like maybe get M3Ds, or Mk5s instead if you can find them cheaper.
Headphones are a very personally choice but I always hear great things about the Seins.
What the hell is the "Cosmetic Stand"?

I also forgot to add, I plan on doing some production as well. And maybe I'll go live someday and have my computer do all the work as i compose a song right then and there and mix it.

I bought the Xone 464 for the same reason, because I produce. Two birds one stone. Best mixer out there imo.....well unless you want to spend $4500 for the V6
DynaFire
get the A&H, Ecler, Dateq, Rodec or Rane mixer not a pioneer/numark/etc. My fav is the Ecler, esp the nuo5 or HAK360/320. Pioneers are not good quality in my opinion. There amps are ok though (i've got one.). Get the Senns! HD280, HD25 or HD200s. I've tried them all and like the hd200. I know it's cheaper than the hd25s but i like them. I'd also try sonarsound and akg for headphones. I where my headphones a lot and as such wouldn't touch the HDJ100 or the sonys, way too easy to break and not good value for money. I also don't think they sound good....

I love the pioneer headphones... so does ferry, tiesto, and armin. all have been pictured wearing them. I know for a fact that ferry carries his pair with him to all his gigs.

Looks like he forgot to bring them to the afterparty in the other thread though huh?

So your saying: "if big name djs use it and it looks cool; than it must be good" Not always true.... Look ask anyone who owned sony v700 for over a couple of years.

Pioneer's are good for dj use but for sound quality and comfort i would take my hd-280s over the pioneer hdj1000 in a instant.
Tranquil010
I would get the PVDJ Rotary Mixer, awesume sound, and the Alesis Monitors, the look and sound awesume
dj chex
pvdj rotary mixer??? WTF? I would rather get american dj crap and fall in a pile of dog face first before i buy any peavy mixers.

He didn't have them yet. I haven't gone back looking at pictures from a whole bunch of previous gigs, but ever since WMC, every picture of ferry I have seen, and every time i have seen ferry, he has had the HDJ1ks

Actually, im saying if someone who makes their living being a dj every night of the week, who has money and or hookups to get any pair of headphones on earth, uses them... then there must be something to it. The Pioneers are light, very comfortable, and have good bass response. They have a greater frequency range (5-30k versus 8-25k), are 5 decibels louder, have a much lower impedence, and the cord is a part so it can be replaced. I also don't like the ear cups on the sens, the padding feels a bit cheap to me. Maybe the Senns are the best headphones under 100 dollars, but if you go to the next price range (100-200), the pioneers rule the roost. I think whoever started this thread was right to add them to his list. The pioneers are technically better headphones, and your "more comfortable and sound better" is completely subjective.

i think they are also paid to wear the headphones though...

plus a club environment is very different from a bedroom environment which is the focus of this thread.

furthermore technical specs cant really be trusted to compare the acutal sound of headphones. everyone hears things differently...

frequency response above 20khz doesnt matter much becuase its beyond the range of human hearing. some of hte best headphones in the world go up to 16khz

Tiesto has been switching between stanton's and pioneers. I think armin goes between pioneers and v700s.

I disagree with the idea that what is good for the club is not good for the bedroom...a club environment is much more demanding than a bedroom, and thus, stuff that holds up well in a club should hold up just as good in a bedroom. I.e. noise exclusion, clarity at high volumes, etc. will be better in a bedroom.

Also, aesthetically, i find the senns to be incredibly ugly. They look like something that would come with wireless headphones for tv...
