fate CAN'T exist, otherwise, living life would be absolutely pointless. why put billions of people on a planet to do something, if it's all planned out anyway? i do believe in potential, that people have the potential to MAKE things happen, just not that things happen.
ie. my fate is to be the next Bill Gates, or it is to be a homeless bum. what's the point of getting up in the morning either way? no matter how hard i study, if i'm destined to be a bum, i'll end up one, OR, no matter how many stupid things i do, classes i skip and cars i steal, i'm ending up the next Mr. Gates? please, give me a break. fate is just an excuse, a consolation prize offered to those who cannot explain why things are so bad, or an ornament people throw on fortunate things that have no real substantial base, they just call it 'fate'.

not everything is either black or white
how about the view that there are some predetermined things in our lives but we have the option to choose where we want to go from there? |

i don't get this predetermined thing though...
if anything was predetermined....bah. its to hard to spell out. I try to avoid just labeling a single event as fate, ratehr something leads up to the event, thereby making it predetermined.
i shal ponder this more... |

determinism is the belief that people have no free choice - every single event B has been caused by event A or a combination of events
what i'm saying is that it's possible that our choices determine our fate. like, if you make this choice, in 3 years THIS certain thing is predetermined to happen... of course, since we make thousands of choices every week, it's hard to talk about fate... but hey, who's a philosopher here... |

I keep thinking of a computational model of it and that something has to remember or cause the next thing to occur...so things that take years...its the whole, how does the system actually work...
then I realise, it doesn't work. |
