I'm gonna start a thread where i bitch about prices of ferrari's going up.
I think they should make ferrari's affordable so everybody could buy a whole lot of 'em, even if we dont need em.
Who's in!
/me starting a "lower prices for ferrari's" alliance
(my point being: if u can't afford it, don't buy it. There's always an alternative) |

Yah, seems the outlook isn't quite as bleak as that site suggests. Even so, it's pretty scary to see a worst-case scenario. |

In Norway the curent price is $1.65 per litre!!
Thats $6.6 per gallon |
|
|
| reveal |
| 1 gallon = 3.7854117 litres, 1 litre is 10,66 SEK, and 1 SEK = 1.40552 USD => 1 gallon costs $5,32 in Sweden... |

We could do what Carter did during his presidency, introduce more initiatives that require mandatory reductions in gas mileage, efficient appliances, expansion of daylight savings, and the 55-mile speed limit, as well push for more alternative energy programs (wind, solar, fecal, etc.).
But then again, that would be thinking a little more like a Liberal, which doesn't quite fit this administration very well.
So either get used to it or vote. Pretty simple.
BTW, what happened to all of our nationwide oil drilling? Why has that slowed to a crawl? I was under the impression that we still have a significant quantity of oil in the U.S., so why aren't we drilling for it? |

I agree, there are so many things we could do besides complaining about the price. Environmental rules have been bent to allow the SUV boom. For example they are classified as a truck and don't need to meet polution and gas efficiency standards that cars do. For example we changed to a new emission testing in CT and by mistake they tested SUVs at car standards and they all failed, even brand new SUVs!

It's more cost effective to drill elsewhere or just import. Look into the history of Texas during the gas crunch in the 70s there was an oil boom in Texas, but when the prices fell it became unprofitable to drill there and it turned into a ghost town.
BTW, everyone is worrying over the short-term price. How much you think oil will cost when we start running out? There a finite amount of oil and we eventually will run out then what? |
