It can also be called electric trance see for example Judge Jules album Trance Nation Electric.
The two songs i mentined in the original post are clesrly tech trance. The new cosmic gate song(bilingual) is tech trance .I could go on listing songs and artists which are tech trance!

I don't mean to be an arse either, but did you know that your space bar does infact continue to work even after you have used a piece of punctuation? Just a thought.

ok ok...i knew this would evolve into a spree to save "tech-trance"

those of u who claim u've been educated about electronice music forever should really look up ur definitions. tech-trance doesn't exist. two genres that are soooooo different cannot collide as one because of what is called a build and a break. if u really look back, u'll find that what u call "tech-trance" is merely techno, and most of the mainstream today is sadly mislabeled. listen to Jeff Mills - The Bells, which is a detroit techno song which was created before trance even emerged. and for u tiesto fans who claim traffic is a tech-trance song, i'd hate to break it to u that his song was sampled from Sean Deason - Psykofuk >>> Techno!!!

I'll give u that picotto did play some trance in his day, but tracks like Komodo aren't even played by him anymore. Now that Picotto is doing b2b sets with Liebeing this summer in Ibiza, be sure to find that he'll play nothing other than pure techno

trance was appreciated by me for a different reason which died off a while ago. Songs like Requim for a Dream or Seven Cities were great, but now the new suff has just become that commercial cheese. And to even mention the two genres together is like comparing apples and oranges.

And whoever mention Dumonde as Tech-Trance >>>> LMFAO!!!!!!

as far as i agree that some of the stuff that's labeled as 'tech-trance' doesn't sound remotely similar to techno (and that many stuff that is out there is just plain ), you can't deny that there's stuff that blend the two sides  what do you consider to be the border then?

wow, thanx for really explaining urself

first of all, the song is sam sharp - twister, not twisted, but who gives a , its a horrible song

for a track to be labeled as tech-trance, it should embody elements of both trance and techno. i actually took a listen to every one of these songs, and haven't heard any elements of techno in them. may u please identify what these five ty songs have anything to do with techno?? cause i am really puzzled.

if u like trance, thats fine, i could care less. but there is no reason to claim it to having affiliation with techno. its simply not the same, at all

listen to anything by kay d smith, dj rush, chris liebing, dj preach or carl cox...thats techno. just cause a techno song has a melody, doesn't mean its now trance.

go to discogs and proclaim ur little trance nation fever, u'll get eaten alive

peace

yep, twister is a good example of what i was talking about.. people call it tech-trance but it barely has techno elements. and yep it's pretty crap.

but you say that there is no possible cross between trance and techno and there will not be ever. what about the olivier lieb stuff? hell, even half of what picotto has been playing lately has loads of trancy elements, it might be closer to techno but you can't deny it's past the border.

Tech-trance can be an example of "Emperor's New Clothes" -- for what it's worth, it's see-through. This is not to say the music is bad at ALL, it's simply to say that people put more stake in the term than in the music... and by the way, can't percentages applied? as in "25% PURE TECH-TRANCE, FRESHLY BREWED"? Kidding.

A track can be obliquely inspired by the most purist, elitist minimal techno and still sound nothing like it -- but in the artist's mind, the influence and the overwhelming shadow is still there.

"Tech-house"? WHAT? "Tech-trance-house"? HUH?!? Oh yeah, don't forget trance is just house with arpeggios and gate effects at a faster BPM. KIDDING. (Somewhat)

Will someone please explain to me why Layo & Bushwacka's "Love Song" is considered "tech-house"? It sounds more rootsy gospelly stuff to me because of the vocals (hey Moby!), and maybe a little Devo-ish too for obvious reasons. Thanks.

If you want to cop out and make easy tech-trance, it's easy peasy squeezy:

-take one of Jeff Mills' tracks or Richie Hawtin's
-add a Ferry Corsten or PvD melody on top
-mix

Fair enough, right? :D

KIDDING (sort of)
