WOWOW, faj, there is one critical error in your statements. You say that Jeff Mills "the Bells" was created before trance even emerged.
YOU DEFINATLEY MUST BE UNDER AGE
I was listening to REAL trance 16years ago in India - where it all started. That is REAL trance. close your eyes and drift away (without the drugs)
There is so much tossing and turning yet if we back to the roots of the music, then you will see that the real foundation of music as we know it, even before knuckles put the first beats in sync, lies in traditional trance. I guess from there music developed and all the itermingling of sounds and electronica have redifined the generic genre. Some like it some dont, but whats most important is how we each perceive that music to make us happy. If one dude wants to call it tech trance, and the other not, thats fine.

Goa is the primordial form of trance...hypnotic melodies and ambient moods with the absence of a primary rhythm.

By going to Ishkur? That's the way to go...have somebody else stuff your face with 30 second samples and hilarious cynicism on a now-static genre.
To me, the tech trance argument falls along the line of people debating progressive vs progressive trance. Because it's music, and because it involves our own abberations and preconceived perceptions, dry categorizations are impossible to acheive, let alone the claiming of new genres. Songs these days are taking advantage of intertwining different STYLES rather than trying to do a ty hybrid style mashup(not talking about bootlegs) One song that comes to mind is Sander van Doorn - Loaded. It has somewhat constant proportions of techno and progressive trance and house intertwined, but the reason why the track doesn't go overboard is because each element is minimal, yet stand outs in it's own way. Repeated synths, hardbassline, soft pads...you get the idea.
For me, tech trance exists, and it's the only type of trance other than progressive(whatever that means) that I 'believe in'. |

Yes YeS YES I'm with you there... when will people stop arguing about it and just enjoy their music? It's not a problem to be solved, and terms are quite relative. I bet, say, Japanese have all sorts of words for these types of music too :P

i hate all these stupid genre nazi's....
when he says tech-trance..even if it isnt an "official" genre (who the makes it a real genre? i dont know) he means he wants a trancey song with pumping drum rhythms
anything marco V will give you that...but for all the people arguing...just answer his question, he gave examples, use em to follow what he wants
