Review: FREEDOM (pg. 4)

well i finally showed up, wasnt gonna be there really. after my wedding party finshed at sheraton centre, i decided i head to kool haus. so i arrive in my semi-formal clothes, then once inside kool haus, i ran to the bathroom to change my clothes. lol.:stongue: and then check in my bag as usual. when i got into the kool haus at 1:30ish i was looking for TA's, and it took me like 40 mins to spot the first TA, which was cono_sur. after that i saw more, and it was nice metting you all, drale, tordan, and everyone else.. you all know who you are... about the night, well i didnt enjoy picotto the last time he was here, but last nite he was amazing.. i dunno i just luved it, even tho im a techno noob i couldnt id any tracks, lol. ah well but he was awesome, i stayed until the end, like 8:30ish and was tired to death. but it was fun and i have a feeling that the toronto scene is starting to get really good.. thats all i gotta say for now. hope everyone will make it for tiesto, as i will be there for sure... you guys are awesome!;)

damn, what a great night.
Picotto kicked everyone's ass with his track selection i think. out of this world. did anyone else feel it was a bit slower than usual tho? not too much, just a tad slower.
that unknown track tho... :eek: = my face. holy fack! that definately made my night, seeing Vince, Nat and i all react the same way. what a tune, definately need to find it.
also, caught some of WOW's live performance with Liam, and though it didn't really go with the crowd, that one slow track with the vocals was really great.
all in all, great night. met a lot of new TAs (can't remember any names..) and saw a lot of familiar faces (jeff, chris, emery, john, ben, fuad.. i know there's more but i can't remember, i apologize)
but going back to picotto, here's my list of what i remember him playing:
dj tonio & david carretta - my telephone is dead
mauro picotto - hong kong
mauro picotto - coldfunk
mauro picotto - pulsar 2002?
misc - flow control
alter ego - rocker
sontec - houseside
i recognized a lot more, but my trainspotting sucks ass. |

It wasn't just the weather. There was no vibe in the guv main room last night. It was just so 'blah', don't know how else to describe it. As Swamper said, "seems like a lot of tourists" I think he's right because people were just wondering about and not really paying attention to the music. WOW was no big wow so after half an hour of them I moved to the KH.
The vibe in KH was much better. Still doesn't come close to Systems but waaay better than the main room. Loco Dice pumped out some great tunes and really prepared the crowd for Mauro. Very solid performance indeed. Then MP came on and things got even better. My third time seeing him and his best performance thus far. A few messups here n there but track selection was perfect. I wasn't expecting him to be that good but I'm glad he was as it left me thinking it was worth all that money I spent. It was a pleasure as always hanging out with the TAs. A big shoutout goes to all of you!! |

Should have gone on Saturday night instead... pay less and the vibe was awesome. It also was at the perfect capacity.

Wow. I didn't know there were so many techno fans in Toronto. MP played strong but it was not my cup of tea. I was in the Guv for almost the entire night though the breaks in the Orange room got quite good.
I love Way Out West! They have a trippy atmospheric ambient sound that is very unique. Listening to their dj set especially near the end made my spine tingle. Hybrid struggled to sustain the energy near the end of WOW's set, but in the end they were ripping and I was happy to stay till the very end.
A shout out to all the TA's I met - Chinaman, Kevin, Frank, Ray, Margie, Graham, Niles, Nathalie, Vince, J, Darren, Karyn, Hashim, Schryer (you should have played instead of Mark Oliver ;), Emma, and Silke. Stay away from creepy old asian men Silke! :o |
