i guess Matrix 4 really sucked...cause it never came out on theaters.
Computer engineering. Do they hire technology majors in the same field. Graduating in the fall. :tongue2

well,

do you remember amnesia's? Ohm's? um, i can't remember the club name, but it is now called Elysium....off 7th and red river...where they hold the goth nights...sometimes Forbidden Fruit held bondage night there? also, used to be a regular at Planet Austin (80's club/techno).

anyway, those were my hangout spots. emo's would every once in a great while host some kind of industrial night. that was cool too. oh yeah, RPM's was another club that had some late 80's techno.

where'd you go to school in austin?

Cool, are you thinking Planetarium or Backstreet? Wait, that became Ohm's.. I was there some. Ever make it to Curfew or Underground? Eastern Block had a goth night etc... but they may have been gone by then... can't remember... been awhile;) Gustavo was who was spinning at RPM's, nice guy.

I graduated from Crocket, but went to Johnston for 3 yrs. How about you?

small world:)

where are you graduating from? UofH? is comp eng your major too?

if i were you i'd take advantage of whatever career center opprotunities your school has. act on it fast, you gotta plan way in advance.

at A&M we were luck enough to have massive career fairs for most of the schools. Problem was the market was tough and i had a lot going agianst me - no previous internships (they're big on that) and i was (still am) on a student visa which closed off a lot of opportunities, so i couldnt find any decent job offers through engineering. on a side note, i did have a second interview in houston with TI for a damn cool job but i lost it out to a guy with a 4.0

anyways, it didnt stop me. i went on and tried my luck at the business career fair, liberal arts career fair, and math career fair. where i had much better reactions when i told them my major, then through the biz fair i got hooked up with Velocity Electronics. fan out and try looking everwhere you can get face to face interaction. interviews are key

i'm actually somewhat ashamed to say i graduated from lockhart in '92 (30 miles south of south austin). as soon as i could (18 years old) i moved to austin. i lived in the hood over off of east riverside for about 7 years. i pretty much hung out at the Back Room until it got overrun with skinheads.

at one time there was a club right below RPM's that opened up after RPM's closed that spun techno. can't remember what it was called though.

also, there's a new bar over off of brazo's between 6th and 7th (across brazos from the driskoll) that has some turn tables and they spin everything from abmient to trance to drum n bass to rap. very loungy feeling to the bar and the most awesome/romantic chair i've ever seen. it's a chair for two where when both people sit down next to each other, they are actually facing in opposite directions, kind of towards each other. some drunk chick actually offered to kiss me to have a seat. unfotunately, it was when i was macking on some other chick lol.

hey, peterdjsgirl, were you at Skyvue when James Zabiela played a while back? if so, were you by the speakers?
DJ_Octane
is that right where the mexican consulate is?
peterdjsgirl
I was at James Zabiela :) I normally hang to the right of the DJ booth (when you are facing it), by the edge of the dance floor... but I wandered a bit that night. You?

I knew a guy from Lockhart ;) I am not sure when he graduated... I think it was somewhere around '90. He couldn't wait to leave either ...

I'll have to check out that place on Brazos... sounds fun.

if you were facing the speakers, i was on the left corner of the speakers. there was a guy and a girl there, and the guy used to be a dj. i was wondering if that was you 2.

chances are i know who he is. or at least know him by name/face. we had about 550 students in the entire school so it was easy to know everyone. plus my dad was a teacher there.

lol @ total hijack :p

That could have been me:D My husband was/is a DJ. He used to spin here in Austin for quite a few years until we moved, and then he started working with some friends on the production side of things. He stopped doing the weekly club night thing for a bit because he wanted to focus on his family:) We are back and I am currently looking for opportunities for him to spin again. He is also now writing his own music. Please come up and say hi next time you are there... We should be there on Friday for D:Fuse.

The guy I knew was Shawn. I wish I could remember his last name... He had lighter hair, and I think he wore it in a ponytail. He came into Austin all the time. That would be cool of you knew him.
