a few people have commented though, that the watching cars go by track should be last track, but not off cd..
atm its my favourite track on the album, not the best, but my fav atm, if that makes sense.
smile remix is awesome
dorset perception imo is wicked, maybe even better than the lo step mix.
burma remix is wicked, i find the original of it quite boring, but on involver its rad! |

few listens last night.
one word - beautiful.
for me, beats pappa's balance breaks cd. beat's phil k's therapy mix, beats cattaneo's renaissance masters, hehe, i'm even going to say i enjoyed it more than balance 005 :) agree with concensus of "watching car's go by". struggle with the change of speed/vibe near the end. i'll be getting the LP. remix of burma, yum. |

Didn't know it was out yet, walked into CD store, saw it bought it, and havent listened to anything since. It is absolute brilliance. As well as an awsome CD, the packaging is the best graphic design and photography ever on a cd. Overall what a brilliant buy. This is what music is about. :)

just had a listen and this is undoubtedly one of the best compilations in the last few years. Will support Sasha and buy it as soon as I get the $$$. had quick listen in the car - first half cd wasnt my fave, but 2nd half got bit electrotrancish - liked it alot better

6-7 listens over 3 days not a fan.
Yay Sasha remixed 10 tracks and sticks them on a CD.
After listening, I don't like the idea of sasha ing around w/ some1 else tracks(and by that I mean Sasha edits (as in Involver, not remixes)).....go produce his own and leave all the tracks as they should be instead of ing w/ it all...and to go and modifying tracks that don't really work, pulling stuff out of the non EDM side of things just so people call him eclectic and a chance to say he's putting a fresh breathe of life in2 EDM.....quiet vain
The way a lot of the mixes flow, I don't really like the progression of. I don't like how he starts building things then throws breaks in there, also annoying, then builds some more, then drops in felix. If this is the way DJing and CD's are to go, I'm not interested....I'll stay old school...
The tracks themselves are really quiet stale and boring, with the exception being Shpongle - Dorset Perception.
(Sasha Live:Now he's using Albion:LIVE of his DJ sets I really have no faith...I don't want 2 hear sasha cutting up some1 elses tracks.....cool mix them like a pro, layer 3 or 4, and cut them up ON dex, but don't go get a peice of software that auto beatmatches that gives u 5 mins 2 detune a melody, I want to HEAR the track. A track takes more then 10 mins to remix.....and if he's not doing it on the fly, it's not really DJing, it's more BT style of stuff)[ I am not against Albion:LIVE, Richie Hawtin is amazing on it, but he's always been amazing, and could do that sorta stuff on Vinyl/CDJ/FX processor].
005 still holds it for me, with Cattaneo's Renaissance Masters sitting 2nd. this sits very low for me. Nice concept, get some fresh as tracks, make the progression better, mix EDM tracks, and I'd probably rate it better then 005, for pushing the boundries, but this to me, is just a piss poor attempt.

quite the critique and each to their own, but i'm questioning whether we listened to the same mix. i'll agree with you to the extent its not revolutionary. but to say, the compilation's progression itself is poor, egad - say it isnt so. twas so beautiful! the soundscapes worked so well that 2/3rds into this mix, sasha set a benchmark that i'll personally be striving towards for my mixes - as close as i can get with 2 decks and a mixer atm anyhow.
now, i'm not sure where you gathered the aspect of vanity from, perhaps from an interview of his stating the crossing of new boundaries with this cd, but from what i gathered, it was merely a tribute to a few of his favorite tracks over the years. tracks which he wanted to extend his expression to. did he say it was anymore than that? or did we all assume, with he being a forefather of prog and all.
btw, tell me more bout this albion live. it sounds interesting. i admit i'm iffy about auto-beatmatching, but i think there are other aspects in mixing which should be given attention to. aspects that maybe technology is allowing us to explore now i.e. live layering/entwining of pads, melodies, basslines, introduction of different elements/effects. giving a different interpretation of a tune all the time. assuming that's what its capable of doing? kinda opens us to an endless tunnel of creativity i think. something that'll also be more difficult than the matching of beats, no? :) [kinda relative to that "are dj's musicians" thread a while back]
speaking of BT, does he still use his lil head gear thingy for his liveacts? the one that reads his brainwave patterns, converting them to midi signals? how cool is that :)
