If the stats were to show that they got into more accidents, drove cars that were stolen more often, or lived in high accident areas...yeah, they would be paying more...but the stats don't show that ;)

If they can keep stats based on gender lets roll out the race stats and make things a little bit more "equal".

I bet you can all guess where im going with this one....

Equality only works when applied equally ;)

sorry, I don't buy that slippery slope ;) however tongue in cheek your comment might be...

"Race" is not a measureable category like so many people would like to think. Race is not like age, sex, etc. You either are 20 or your not 20...you either are a boy or you are a girl.

What is "black" or "white" or "asian"? It's completely illogical to categorize based upon race when race itself cannot be clearly defined and differentiated in the first place.

PC Insurance (www.pcinsurance.ca)...sure saved me loads of money!! (and no..i am not affiliated with them in any way)

yup, that is who i use too. the deductable is high the first year, but drops 20% every year you are longer with them. so by 5 years, there is no deductible. and if you don't get into accidents and get tickets, you can choose to have this option (you pay an extra 20 dollars a year), where your first accident stays off your insurance record, so it's like having a free claim where your premiums don't go up.

as i said before someone should take them to court for sexism. Imagine if women had to pay more for insurance. There'd be a civil rights march daily!

and what, you think no one has thought of that?

face it, guys get into more car accidents that are more serious (ie. more deaths) then girls. there is no way around it.

You wanna good insurance story.. Get this.. I was paying $155/mo. FULL coverage on a 2002 Hyundai Accent GSI (3 door).. My renewal came up on May 16 they wanted to jump me from $1860/year to $7300.. Yes you read correctly $7300!!!! And all because a "family member" was charged with Careless... What is that? I've had my OWN car insurance since I was 18 years old. TOTALLY separate from this person. I did however finding a comany that was comparable and settled with them. PHEW ;) Anyone else have problems like this?

yes!!!
this thread came with good timing actually.
i got a call from my insurance broker on Friday saying my current insurance company is not renewing my policy and there is no reason for them not to do so...they didnt give a reason.

so I asked her...what can I do...i get an EMAIL from her yesterday saying that the policy she wants me to go with is over $5000...it's a once a year payment and they need the money all up front.

needless to say I have done my research and am now going with someone else.

whats more telling is how females are in favour of keeping it the way it is and males arent.

Feminism has always amused me. Its funny how the equality line stops when its actually a disadvantage to the female. Things like car insurance, ladies night, the tradition of men paying for dates etc etc.

did i say i was a feminist?

i want to be a female and females should be treated differently. as pertaining to car insurance, they are less of a risk on the road and thereofre that is reflected in the insurance rates which are based on a risk assessment. if you are more likely to cost the insurance compnay money, the more they are going to charge you.

no i didnt say you are a feminist but you are definately living under the avails of feminism.

Im just curious as to how feminism ends when the bill arrives... thats all.
