I don't know but people say i have a smart ass...
I got 141 once, but thats because i skipped the english questions, just as i did on my sat's. Oh well...
Though i still dont even understand the point of IQ tests, since they can only find what you have been taught before. |

Sorry kids...your IQ scores aren't in the 150's - 160's. MENSA's members are the top two percentile of intellectuals in the world and their tests take an average of 6 hours to complete...and that's just the test to see if you're even able to take the real multi-day tests. Also..these tests and MENSA rate the MEAN scores and not the ratio bull, which can go up to 210-220ish range if I remember correctly.
If you're taking an internet test and believing the scores they are giving you, shame on you. Take the real deal and then come back and tell us you're scoring that high. By the way, if I'm not mistaken, the top two percentile of intellectuals in the world start at 140 and go up from there. In effect...if you say you scored a 164, you're effectively smarter than 99.99 % of the rest of the world's entire population. I find that laughable...if not generally hard to believe.
Below is a scale of the mean scores...not the Vernon Sare's ratio stuff.
Over 140 - Genius or near genius
120 - 140 - Very superior intelligence
110 - 119 - Superior intelligence
90 - 109 - Normal or average intelligence
80 - 89 - Dullness
70 - 79 - Borderline deficiency
Under 70 - Definite feeble-mindedness
BTW: I know this post will piss some of you off and you'll be looking for type overs and so flame all you want, and to answer your question, I scored a 138 and a 136 both times I took the MENSA test.....and yes I'm pissed that I didn't make the cut! ;P
edit: forgot to add in there that they score and test children (and almost all age groups) differently so what you took in elementary school doesn't count. |

| ROFL, finally someone who actually knows what's up with real IQ testing. I've never taken a true IQ test, just the internet variety BS, usually resulting in scores of 150-190 depending what stupid website it is; which as per the previous description is crap. I wouldn't be surprised if I'm well above average intelligence (ie. 100 score), but there's no way I'm in the top .00001 percent of the world's population. |

Hahah, very funny thread.
It's a shame that intelligence has become a status symbol rather than a tool to be used... |

| What I find scary about IQ tests is that I'm pretty sure most of the people I know are in the 110-130 range, which means there are just as many people out there in the 70-90 range =P |

| For those of you that want to take a real IQ test, heres the link... http://www.intelligencetest.com/... its not 6 hours long, but its not the bs you would get from other sites, which only test your patterning skills. |

| I think in California (where I live) the average is right around 75-ish. Makes for either a lot of fun or a dreadful evening out on the town.:stongue: |

IQ scores have a Standard Deviation of 15, so one SD above the mean (100) is a score of 115, which 84% of all the IQ scores are below.
Take that to 2 SD above the mean, a score of 130, and your looking at 97.72% of all IQ scores falling below that.
They norm the data to the population, so they change the test and the scoring so that there is a mean of 100. These online short versions give you a false sense of hope in your 'iq'.
however realise that the only thing IQ tests are meant to predict is scores on IQ tests. Supposively this translates into school performance, so I guess you could say you can do good in school....but does that matter?
so take all IQ scores with a grain of salt and realise, they mean nothing. |
