Yes I know, I have the same card as you do. But a G4 MX, come on... 9500pro eats that card for lunch...you can't play far cry on that... he needs something better

I second that

ok as you can tell i don't know much about computers...

i decided to go with the radeon 9800pro. Now, in terms of money, is it really imperative for me to get 1 GB of ram? would 512 do?

No, it's damn near impossible. Using liquid nitrogen, you can overclock a 750 pentium celeron to about 2.5GHz, but the data gets scrambled.

Good card. 512 MB RAM will do fine for most games, but games like Unreal Tournament 2004 and Far cry in particular do like more. If your planning on running Far Cry with textures set to high or ultra high you will need 768+ MB RAM in order to stop it swapping to the hard disk every now and then. (You will notice it pausing slightly when u fire your gun etc) If you have 512 you could always run textures at medium, or try and endure the pausing. ;)

Read up on overcocking!! The maximum your going to get out of that chip is 2.2 Ghz and thats with a decent heat sink and fan, uping the voltage to the chip and memory etc. Athlons are multiplyer locked which means you can only overclock using the front side bus. Unless you have good memory (doubtfull) then you'll probably not get much extra out of it.

I wouldn't recommend overclocking anything unless you know what you are doing.
