No...but you seem to be referring to the "nice" parts of third world countries...I'm talking about the real third world countires...where there's hunger, starvation, drought, peoplie die every day from simple diseases, murders and etc...i'm sure they are all very happy with a big smile on their face

Dude, what im reffering to are countries that are much less well off than we are who are much happier with what they have. Sure, those in bad situations where they cant feed or shelter themselves are not going to be happy. But you know what? The images that you see on tv are the very extreme cases of poverty. Let me tell you that if you believed everything you saw on tv youd think that Argentina was a country full of poor people living in cardboard houses and rioting in the streets all day. Let me tell you that i saw only one devastatingly poor area the whole time i was there. The rest of the country was quite middle class. Sure they werent obssessed with the latest cell phones or what kind of car they drove etc etc and yes they made sure to recycle EVERYTHING but they were well fed, were in good health and had very nice housing.

I think the fact that they arent obsessed with material things is part of the reason they are happy. I personally loved the feeling of not having pressure to show off or outdo the next guy. I didnt have a car, i still got hot women to date me... they didnt care! I never realized that material pressure even existed until i left the country and went to live somewhere else. Its a great feeling not to have.

So whats the answer? To not talk about things like this and ignore that there are differences on people and differences of opinion? I guess that would be the politically correct thing to do. I applaud anyone willing to have the guts to discuss something like this whether i agree with their opinion or not.

All too often our society is told to be afraid of open and frank discussion and im sick of it.

don't you get it tho. the fact that this sort of issue comes up at all is scary. i'm all for people discussing real issues, but this is so basic and ignorant, that someone has to say something about it.
