Cor was using Denon at Viva.

Denon's are actually not comparable to Pioneer's or vinyl at all... the reason Cor was using them at Viva is because Viva has no Pioneers... Alot of clubs have Denon's because they're cheaper :)
Denon is just a cd mixer console used in conjunction with normal CD players; it's actually older technology than the CDJ.
CDJ's are actually turntables.. and from what I hear the Technics CD Turntables aren't as good as Pioneer..

I got my CDJ from www.electronicgiant.com for $800 CDN for one taxes, shipping and duty in... it's a US company so I'll have to go through Pioneer USA if I need to use the warranty.

you might be thinking about the one piece of equipent that is two CD players but denon acutally makes a CD turntable. i have one at home. it is closer to vinyl because the platter spins and there are some other nifty features that i have no idea about.

i said that just because i saw the denon name at the cor show. he was not using the turntable.

this is their CDJ (they actually have two versions).

Also if they weren't comparable there wouldn't be entire websites dedicated to comparing them.

Yeah I was actually referring to the mixing console.. I've never tried the Denon turntable so I won't comment... it looks more like a turntable though.

The websites I've been on really only compare the 800 to the 900 and technics.

The only problem with getting CD turntables like Denon and Numark (even if they were superior) is that most clubs have Pioneer's in them.. so whatever you're used to at home is totally different than in the clubs; you have to learn the torque all over again in front of a live crowd and that's no good. Obviously that only applies to people that dj at home with the intent of djing out :)

I wouldn't touch the Pioneer's with a 10-foot pole until they get their s**t together with MP3 support and DVD disc support.

Dennon is the market leader in technology IMO: MP3 + Alpha Play + DVD drive support + flash-upgradable firmware (via computer)

well i was excited when the denon's first came out. the salesperson reccomended that i buy cdj 800's or cdj 1000's instead of the denon. he told me that the only good thing about the denon is the spinning platter, and the features were not important. i disagreed with him and picked up one dn-s3000 and one dn-s5000. 2 days later i came back and said i wanted the cdj 800's. the salesperson was right, i didnt need all those features, and as i said in previous post(s), the denon's are complicated, thats why i returned them. but hey if your fine with them, then go ahead and buy them. after all, everyone has different tastes.:p

Pioneer has one called the DVJ-X1.

mp3 support is worthless. no one plays mp3s in clubs, the sound quality even at 320kb/sec is gash compared with real formats. so perhaps for the homo-user (no typo there) that wants to rip off artists by burning cds full or mp3s to mix in their house then the denon is great.

don't even start by saying that "well i want to play my own productions" or "i want to play amateur dj productions". my suggestion would be record your OWN productions to wav files so they sound good and just burn them to cd and play them on your cdj-1000mkII

if the denon was so much better top djs wouldn't be playing on cdjs. I've never seen a picture of sasha or zabiela playing on a denon.

you are joking right? there is no way any person can tell the difference between .wav and a 320 .mp3 file. and ever here of a little program called Final Skratch, which a lot of big name DJs are using now which plays .mp3s mostly. Any top 40 bar also has an automatic .mp3 DJ set up that mixes by itself. no one knows the difference. and by the way, who said that the denon is better only because of the .mp3 support?

zabiela does not use anything other than Pioneer cuz he works for them! he gets money from the to advertize their .

Right, and that's why big name DJ's can be quoted saying they exchange promo tracks between each other in WAV or 320K mp3 format. But they probably don't know as much as you, why would they.

I guess sites like Beatport.com are useless and nobody uses them, they make no money, have no major labels signed, have no support from big name artists. Incase there's any misunderstanding, I'm being quite sarcastic.

I have read several interview with the man where he states he only received his pioneer deal in the past year or so. I thnk he uses the CDJs because the interface is something he is used to, it was the first deck he was exposed to and they work REALLY well with his EFX box.

well obviously they aren't going to pay some joeschmo to push their product, he had to get big first.

but all that aside, who knows, if he now tried different equipment, he could do even better stuff. and again, what zabiela does is not mainly with the CDJs but that friggin EFX board.
