| Ok first of all id just like to say im somewhat new to trance, so dont take anything i say too seriously. Since ive started listening to the music, and getting very interested in the music, i have been finding that electronic dance music is heavily related with ecstasy. No not so much by the people involved with the music (djs producers) but moreso by the media and alot of the public. Now alot of people say stuff like who cares they dont know about what this music is about, and really they dont. But when it comes down to it they dont need to. I think youd be being quite naive if you said that E isnt a part of the scene at an EDM event (then again im 15 what do i know?) Anyways, E is illegal i dont care if you think it should be legal, or if i think it should be legal, we cant change that, it is illegal, and it is the cops/government/health...people...stuffs... job to do something and step in when they are seeing a drug being used widely. This means starting stupid things such as the R.A.V.E. act. Now by doing this, hurting clubs because E circulates in them, they really hurt EDM, but they dont mean to, they dont try to, they dont care about the music being played in the clubs. So really what im trying to get at is that for trance to stay alive, for a longer time it has to really distance itself from the drugs. Now id like to say, no no no no no im not all anti drug or anything, i really could care less if you do it, as long as youre safe, hell i might do it when im older, but its illegal, so cops have to do something about it, and it hurts the EDM industry. How can you expect a music genre to really flourish if it is strongly associated with an illegal substance? I really dont know where i was going with this, i just felt i needed to say, im not anti E, but the music being associated with E is hurting it. Anyways the sad thing is that people who do this to the scene are the same people who cant really appreciate the music without it...are those really the kind of people that you want to be at your shows? are those the people that should be supporting this industry? I dont know really, i mean i dont think its THAT big of a part of the industry, but it is there and as long as the media associates the music with the drug, the music is being hurt. I dont know why im saying all this crap though, i think it was someone on some other thread said something about pvd being an anti E baron? I dont have a problem with people doing it, i just have a problem with people doing it and talking about it to the extent where they create an association with it and the music. Really it comes down to i want people to love the music without the stuff, I cant stand the thought that maybe... this whole fad or scene or whatever wouldnt be here without the aid of something...that isnt an instrument... (hey can you tell that i had nothing to do this friday night???) Just a 15 yearold canadian trance newbie, long time musician and music lovers point of view and pointless thoughts. |

i read all that and no offence but i really dont know why i did, you stated the same thing over about 11 times. just for your information, seeing as 'drugs are harming he industry' as you put it. the rave scene is pretty much what it is today because of the heavy usuage of drugs back in the late 80s and early 90s before ppl gave a about money and who the biggest DJ was.
YOUR idea of the perfect drug free scene with all the big bucks and stuff is killing the scene more than anything imo, producers and DJs are increasingly bothered about capitalising on EDM and making themselves a small fortune rather than having a good time which is what he whole rave scene stood for when it was introduced. |

ur dreaming if u think there will ever be raves without pills
the rave scene was built around E and the scene wont survive without E this is why most clubs are not to bothered bout drugs being taken into clubs if u notice only the biggest name club give u a heavy search and only cose the police have told them to.
So no drugs r not killing the scene in fact the scene needs drugs to survive |
