* 10 years ago, Liberal Paul Martin said he would clean up government and put Canadians' priorities ahead of corporate friends and insiders. We're still waiting...
* His Liberals stole hundreds of millions of dollars from Canadians. But he still insists he knew nothing about it.
* His first act upon becoming Prime Minister was implementing billions in corporate tax cuts which led to cuts in transfer payments to provinces.
* As CEO of Canada Steamship Lines, he avoided Canadian taxes and paid foreign workers $2.20 an hour (after first laying off Canadian workers) by putting foreign flags on his ships.
* He voted with the Reform Party in 1999 against marriage equality.
* While he was finance minister, tuition rose five times faster than inflation.
* He was disturbingly silent on the war in Iraq - but is now aggressively pursuing talks with the U.S. on Canada's participation in Star Wars.
* He cut environmental spending as finance minister, and all the while making a fortune shipping polluting coal.
* He says Gordon Campbell is "a breath of fresh air", and, like Campbell is putting big business before people like you and me.
* He says Jean Chretien is a man of "highest integrity"... he obviously lacks good judgment. |

Most of the 17 points made by this guy are RIDICULOUS and so general that they literally make me laugh out loud:
"my savings have gone down" - yeah, it MUST be because of Liberal gov'ts that his savings are down.
"my costs to educate my children have gone up" - no ! did he expect them to go DOWN over those 10+ years? Last time I checked EVERYTHING is more expensive now than in 1993. Ask the universities if their operating costs have gone down. But if taxes go up to pay for rising education costs, he'll be the first to bitch too, I'm sure.
"my concerns for my family's safety has increased" - good, I'm glad you're more concerned about your family's safety, but Canada is still plenty safe...nice fear-mongering!
"my personal expenses have increased" - exactly how is that gov't related? that's a ridiculous blanket statement too.
I won't even address the entire 2nd part of that guy's post because it's just demontrating what an ignorant and selfish jackass he is. He is happy that Harper is not a lawyer, not wealthy, and not from Quebec. Irrelevant, irrelevant, irrelevant!
He is essentially admitting to not caring about anything other than what directly benefits himself. That is SELFISH beyond belief. There are 30+ million other Canadians that deserve consideration when we're casting our ballots!!!
Shadowolf, save your bull for people that will eat it up. I trust people on here are smarter than that.
On a much happier note, I see the Liberals have regained a significant lead in the lastest ipsos-reid poll...my faith in Canadians as holding true to their principles is being renewed!!!

and Jayx1...you want to talk about ARROGANCE? How about when Harper recently claimed that he was headed for a MAJORITY gov't!?! Now THAT is arrogance! Sorry Mr. Harper, but Canadians might not be happy with the Liberals, and (god forbid) they might even vote you into office, but I guarantee that Canadians are not so stupid as to give you that kind of power!

Conservatives are worse because:
1. Harper has a financially irresponsible budget, particularly with regard to overspending on the military.
2. Harper is open to revisiting issues that are settled like gay marriage and abortion.
3. Harper wants to pander to the U.S. to the point that he would have sent troops to Iraq.
that's enough for me to know that he's someone I NEVER want to see heading our country. |

Policy wise and overall for the country...
I agree that Martin is bad...Since I came here 6.5 years ago I've seen a lot of changes and they've all been in the wrong direction IMO...however, I think that Harper and his entire plan is even worse still...so IMO Martin is BAD...but conservatives are even worse...
Therefore I still don't know who I'll vote for...I like NDP but the person in my riding sux...not to mention that by voting NDP i'm bringing a conservative government in (most likely)
Another reason why conservatives are worse;
In a recent interview with David Miller, and meeting of all the mayors of major cities in Canada, all mayors suggested that Conservative government would put Canada at least a decade back from where it is today. |
