| What do you guys think? I mean, 2 missed PK's in this tournament alone. He is such a good shot taker, wtf happens to him when he takes pk's? Remember Argentina vs. England few years back when he almost passed out on the pitch before takin that pk? Damn, why is he so nervous? |

He really drives himself hard and puts pressure on himself to perform, thats what makes him such a great player but also brings nerves in situations like that - look at zidane vomiting on the pitch before his against england.
The other thing though I don't think hes made for taking penalties when you look at the way he strikes the ball, it can be a bit hard for him to disguise where hes putting it.
Also he is so unlucky 2nite! Look at the replay - when he puts his left foot down the earth divots up and the ball actually moves in front of him. |

figo is as over-rated as beckham for penalties imo. people were talking one of these days that he has missed 4 of the last 5 penalties for our national team. i'm not totally sure that that's true.. but.. i remember a few misses
glad that postiga went on his place today :D |

Did u see the look on his face when he missed that penalty.He look at the penalty spot like it wasnt his fault that he missed.

Hmm, well when you volunteer to take a penalty in front of 50,000+ fans and millions around the world, please let us tranceaddicts know how it went :)
Regardless, I do think Beckham should do better on those penalties, whether he slips or not thats all part of the kick. 3 missed in a row is poor by any standard and I think he knows that. Having said that, Rui Costa killed a duck today as well, dont see many people reminding themselves of that. And I don't think the Portugese would be too slow to be thankful that Figo didnt take any-he's got a terrible penalty record as well. |

| Beckham is a great player...but I think it's time he realised that he isn't the man to be taking England's penalties. This is three times in a row that he's cost us the game, though to a lesser degree this time. His PK was disgusting....this will be a repeat of 98 I think...Beckham will now be Public Enemy #1 in the UK for quite some time. |

ABout the publicj enemey, I dont think so. He is untouchable after his performances in an England shirt (bar the penalties ofcourse although he did put away the most important of them all). The media and fans would be hyprocritical scum to get on his case again (not that they arent hypocritical scums as it is).
I get nervous taking penalties in front of my friends with no one else watching. I cant imagine how it feels in front of the whole world. |

Beckham has guts, but atm has too many personal problems to captain england, I think he should relinquish the captaincy & concentrate on becoming a success in spain, the real fans saw glimpses of the true Beckham and he has to prove them right, and sort his head out |

indeed, I think the ball moved about 5 cm before he actually hit the ball, that's why he missed the penalty kick |

| he is a great player but shall not take penaltyshots i think.. i mean.. look.. almost 99% of his passes is more than perfect .. always lands on the fot of the player he passes to from over half the feild.. |
