The only suggestion I can offer then, is to use E moderately. Enjoy the music for what it is, rather than letting the drug do it for you.

i always thought this was a given...

oh well, its still undeniable...what tiger woods has done for golf is what E has done for the trance/edm scene...simply put:
1. E pulls more people into the clubs
2. More people in club = bigger payday for club owners and marquis dj's
3. If any dj says that E shouldn't or is unnecessary for the scene doesn't understand economics...for if it wasn't E, not as many people would be interested in partying with the likes of PvD, Tiesto, Armin...don't believe me?? next time you go to a party, see how many people actually know something bout the headliner...not just the name or type of genre...people at these clubs/parties are in it for the scene, drugs, and then the love of the music...as sad as this might be, its giving dj's like pvd, tiesto, armin much bigger paydays, therefore if any of them rant about drugs and the ill effects, they should not be cashing in on it...thats my opinion...i hate hearing how PVD doesn't enjoy seeing so many people fukd up on his dance floor, but you know what? he did do drugs profusely, he spends his money happily, and he ridicules us for giving it to him in the manner in which we do...wow, what a society we live in...

ratz, im not trying to be a smart ass... i feel bad for you, as we all are together in wanting to be treated well at clubs. we all pay for the experience and go through different troubles to see our DJs... some of us pop some pills, whatever. the fact that bouncers are indeed corrupt and ready to invade privacy without cause and then demand bribes is ridiculous, no one is "okay" with that.

however, i really disagree with your outlook. i can see how the event was ruined for you, i can see why it ruined your trip and experience due to the anxiety and unpleasantness/loss of cash. all i have to say is, definitely do not blame a city. if you really want to hold a grudge against the club, then fine... but i don't necessarily even agree with that. fact is, people are corrupt in all aspects of society so one can easily expect this from bouncers! as for your response to the club, well they are not compelled to act or express concern for something that was not legal in their club in the first place. yeah, tons of ppl do it, but its the basic fallacy of your argument and reason to complain.

my advice- cheer up and let it go. go back to toronto for events.... adding hours of travel to go to another city for this is just lacking all sense!!! this could happen to you in montreal or any other place you think may be different. it has nothing to do with the place, a little bit to do with the club, and everything to do with probability, timing, the moment and situation you put yourself in. as a rule, i keep out of stalls in clubs as much as possible. i never put myself in a situation that anyone could consider conspicuous. you're not going to be searched for no good reason in the middle of the crowd or at a urinal, are you? and for the last time dude, this happens in clubs everywhere, is unfortunate but again, can be avoided 99/100 times with the right measures (a small price for someone who decides to break rules ;)

and honestly, if you really want to never do something again because of this experience....than make it the freaking pill ure stopping (and definitely get some plastic in your wallet- u cant depend on cash for hotels and travel).

this is innacurate. pvd never said he is against doing drugs people doin drugs. he just made a distinction that seperates an art form associated mainly with negativity>>>DRUGS. in my opinion, it has much more to do with the politics of all this.... to change public opinion... all the damage that happens to this scene because of these perceptions... of druggies being entertained by loud sound and trippy lights... as though there is nothing else to it. as an artist and someone who travels the world over to promote his own music scene, you can't blame him for wanting to make this distinction. i vividly recall that he said a couple of years back when asked about the whole drug thing that he does not want to lead anyone to not do drugs...he just hopes they are there for the music.

I think I replied to your post when you were first talking about taking a bus some ungodly amount of hours to see DJ Tiesto. I drove to Winnipeg with my family when I was a kid and I think its only 8 or 9 hours drive from Minneapolis. We have great clubs and all the top Trance DJ's come to the Metro Area of Minnesota. Consider coming down to the states to a show instead of those super long bus rides to Toronto and Montreal!

first of all, i don't know what the hell you are trying to say...i think i might get the jist but damn, i really had a hard time following your point...but pvd shouldn't pass judgenment on anyone...i know how hard he works to create the following he has, but i don't think people realize that a big part of that following needs to be contributed to DRUGS...the scene, undoubtedly wasn't growing at the fastest of rates, but with the introduction of E in nightclubs, popularity all around has increased...if PVD can't understand that and wants to say that he, as a dj is the only important factor in this scene of electronic music, then he needs to fukn relax and take a look around...without the drugs, the trance/electronic CLUB scene would not be what it is currently...don't believe me, then you don't have to, really no sweat off my back..but thats the truth of it all and you, TA's and all the premier DJ's need to respect the fact that most of the people arent' there to solely see the DJ...nope, not even close...some are there for purely the DJ, others came with those fans of the DJ, some just come out to dance, some come to drink, some come because all their friends tell them bout the club, OTHERS come FOR THE DRUGS...its just reality...and PVD should realize, even though he hopes that people come solely for the music, that E helped get him his huge paychecks, keeps the scene growing, and finally E is the reason most clubbers find themselves at the same club week after week, regardless if PVD or anyone will be there to headline...so to answer your remark, no - people are not there just for the music..as a matter of fact, i think music is really the last thing on peoples mind in a club...don't hate me for saying it, but its true...look around...only few hardcore fans in relation to the amount of freakin club whores that are normally trying to fit in...if you don't get it from this or the other entries i already posted, then forget it...

Yes, EDM would be nothing like what it is today withoug E. E got edm where it is now, but now E id ing the music over. I personally beleive that it IS possible for edm to distance itself from being associated with drugs in time... Its probably more viable than you may think.

Also think about this...if the poster had not brought E into the club, he would not be doing all this bitching about a venue. Dont get me wrong i feel sorry for him, but in a way its his own fault. A bouncer caught you with an illegal substance, and he took the opportunity to exploit that. If you didnt have it you probably wouldnt have looked suspicious, and even if you did, and he still searched you, he wouldnt have found anything. You would have just been like "well that was weird" But because you DID take drugs into the club, you brought an experience on yourself, and now youre talking bad about a club, thus harming the dance scene.

ya i guess i cant really blame toronto as a whole... and the party was amazing... and yes i did have that much money on me... but i dont think i can go back to toronto after loosing that much... im not willing to chance it... im too poor to take chances like that again...
maybe some day ill travel to atlanta or miami or washington to see tiesto... they all seem to be picking up on the trance...

Well, the guy didn't take your money,(say that he did if he did) unless he wripped it out of your wallet and said "this is mine sucka" and then left then you technically bribed him. If he says "I'll call the cops" and you give him the money so that he won't call the cops then you just bribed him so you really don't have an argument with the Guvernment. IMO you should have knocked that mother****** out right there in the stall and made off with your cash and your pill;)

well maybe i wasnt specific enough for ya then... i opened my wallet and pulled out $20 and gave it to him... he then said "no that isnt enough to make it worth my while" and opened my wallet and said "oh you have alot of money" and pulled out $50... i then said "come on... thats my hotel money... can i at least get the $20 back... to which he replyed "no its not worth my while for anything less"

so technically yes i did bribe him with $20 but he grabbed the $50 out after that... so i guess where both guilty in your example hu

Well its about a 3.5 hour drive for me to hit the Guv from Rochester NY. Been there 4-5 times in the past year. Always had a great time with my friends there. Dont let this one incident ruin it for you.
