It's likely, but it probably smells kinda fishy.

Futurama already covered this timeless question (no).

No way. Mermaids spread their eggs over the sea floor. Then you can jerk off onto them while looking at the mermaid's breasts. Be careful of predators.

Okay good, I was hoping I was doing it right.

I sincerely hope not.

But in reality, true Creationists that stand up vigorously for their beliefs are truly few and far between. Trouble is, they have a tendency to shout the loudest, plus they also find some interesting links to political "pull". For the most part you have a group of individuals who tend to believe the Creationist story on the surface, simply because the distortions and simplicity of the creation story is much more appealing than the underlying complexity of evolutionary theory. However, a basic Biol. 101 and/or Anthro. 101 in college usually does the trick for most.

Trouble is, with the rise of home schooling, and the appeal of either furthering education in private Christian colleges, or the appeal of even foregoing higher education altogether, combined with its simplicity, creationism won't be going away anytime soon.

I'd say that's a plausible hypothesis. When the religious people venture into this forum they are often attacked on their reliance on revelation rather than reason - as opposed to having their revelations taken seriously. I would even say that in the heat of things, they are sometimes belittled by the science fundamentalist in here.
Consider yourself going into a religious forum, and having your reliance on logic being ridiculed, rather than having a logical debate. I think that you would leave pretty soon too.;)

do they have any religious trance sites?

Hehe, I tried doing that on www.islambosna.com, but they banned me like 5 minutes from after I logged in. Suffice to say, questioning the existance of Allah was enough to do the trick.

Hm, there goes my last post for this month..I'm off to vacation. See ya people, hope you don't have nearly as good vacations as I will! :p

Besides, creationism has been struck down and rightfully labelled as religious doctrine by the courts, so for the most part it cannot be taught in public schools (of course the religious nutbag private schools is another matter).

I believe it has been labeled religious doctrine wrongly.

Now, bear with me for a second before steam starts flying out everyone's ears.

I agree that believing in creation *has* religious backgrounds (obviously) - *however* - this should not keep it from being studied, scientifically, just as evolution is.

I think some of the flood theories and whatnot are very interesting, and much more plausible (in my mind at least) than evolution. Whether you believe that or not is not the point - the point is both sides should be able to be equally studied.

As of now, due to this "ban" -- kids are taught evolution alone. I'm all for creation being taught in school - objectively - but evolution is being taught as the "it can't be wrong" doctrine now.

Oh yeah, and I believe evolution is religious doctrine as well. Anyone who believes it is taking giant leaps of faith. It's an unprovable (at least right now) theory that shouldn't be taught as fact in school. Creation shouldn't be taught as fact either - they need to be taught as 2 theories.

Anyone else agree with me or am I alone?

Flame on! I love it. ;p
:p

oh you just opened the flood gates :S

wait half an hour and you will get:
- thousands of fossil records and some cool Ned Flanders pics from Occrider
- the history of christianity, its origins, the council of nicea, christianity's amalgamation with paganism, and the psychology of fundies from Tito
- logical fallacies associated with the concept of God, history records disproving young earth fundies - floods - and an eclipse that covered the entire earth from artic
- Why Palestine was not offered to the Israelites in the bible from... ;)
- philosophy and hardcore evolutionary theory from GrandpaOpus

Creationism is not objective, it solely relies on confirmation bias and post-hoc reasoning. Could you post some detailed info on this flood theory, havent come across any articles on this in peer review before :/ :p
