| Wow, that virus sample you put up sounds really warm and nice. ;-) |

I played around with it for another hour or so.. I've never really listened very closely to a jp8080 but I don't imagine it would sound a whole lot different from this ;)
there are still a couple problems with the sound quality.. too much ringing.. and there is a bit of a "digital mark" - but both are minor and I'm sure they will be fixed in future versions..
the icing on top of the cake is that it's pretty good with CPU useage.. good job ross |

| it sounds very good as long as the filter is not full open. then it sounds very thin and has no life/atmosphere.. |

thanks for sharing. Sounds really good regarding it to be a free VSTi. Better Superwave in my opinion.

nice work ross,
just wondering.. how far are you going to take this vsti?
a 8080 style interface would be nuts! ;)
might just try modeling it in 3d just for fun :) |

sounds quite a lot better since the last time i heard it ross... top work on the synth...
I like the filter quite a lot but the synth has a kinda buzzy digital sound to it that i think could be fixed up a bit |

your first saw is to ugly to much detune.
second one sounds nice. |
Hi Ross, best sounding supersaw VSTi so far, but I agree with Massive84 that it doesn't sound as bright as the real thing. I tried the classic superstring song sound and even with the filter full open and resonance set to 50% it still doesn't sound as bright as the JP8000 I think. Perhaps it's the EQ that makes the difference, so perhaps it would be a good idea to implement some EQ settings in the VSTi! Would this be possible to do?!
Here is my attempt with the Supersaw VSTi with filter full open and resonance to 50% but it still doesn't sound that bright:
http://users.skynet.be/soundfiles/supersaw_vsti.wav What do you people think?
Here are the original samples (strings and lead) from the Cygnus X song which seems to sound much more brighter then what I came up:
http://users.skynet.be/soundfiles/o...superstring.wav
http://users.skynet.be/soundfiles/o...string_lead.wav
Note: the final 2 sounds are actually mp3 files with the .wav extension. Soundforge let you save them like this! Windows Media Player should play them fine. Let me know if any of the links don't work or play!!
How can I get this sound so bright like the original or isn't that possible with this VSTi?!!
If it's only EQ that makes the difference, could you please implement the necessary EQ parameters in the VSTi, so I can see how it should be done cause I am not good at setting EQ's so it would be nice if the VSTi would have it implemented as part of a patch?! Could you please do this? Thanks!! |

Acell, did you simply use some EQ on my sample or did you create it from zero. In any event, it sounds much better then my attempt. What would help is if you could perhaps could post a screenshot of the EQ you used so I can see what I did wrong! (perhaps also the patch + screenshot of the VSTi in case I programmed it wrong from the start ;) ) Thanks!!
to Ross: if EQ makes that much difference (I never realized this before), then could you perhaps please implement the necessary EQ parameters in your VSTi?! Would be really helpfull! Thanks!! :) |

don't mean to hijack the thread.. dance123:
noting special.. and very rough.. could do with more time and better speakers to hear it.. but yeah... you can do this with any eq plugin.. i've use the waves q8 plugin.. you can do it with fruitys parametric (sp?) eq.. bringing it up around the 8000 mark... lower it in the muddy section (around 250).. and walah :)
i applied that setting to your mp3 |
