last time i was in the club :
Bouncer "hey, you smoking weed"?
Me "no, just a smoke" (i show it to him)
Bouncer "cant smoke that either" and he walked away, i finished my smoke and had probably 6-7 more before i went home and he's seen me again but didnt say , and you know why???
cause he knows it's bull law, and he wont go from person to person telling them to butt out or to kick them out, he has more important things to do.
i wrote about all this before, i'm not gonna do it again, but just for the record i tried to quit (still trying) and until i do, if i go to club and pay 15-70 $ just for cover and EVERY TIME i end up spending load of money on drinks, smokes (that's so ed up, cant smoke inside but here u go, 9 $ for small pack, thanks and GO YOURSELF) and other , i will smoke inside and i will stop only when i'm banned from that place (or stop smoking, but ...)
this is so unfair.
and PLEASE dont start about second hand smoke, i totally understand that but like i said i wrote about that before.
and we'll see what will happen when winter comes.

While I'm all with making money and such as a business owner, the problem here isn't business; it's us.
These same people lighting up are the same damn people I'M going to be paying for to sit in a hospital bed because they didn't know when to quit down the road. :mad:
There's a little more to this than just the short-sightedness of the, "rights of the business owner" arguement.
Billions and billions of dollars are going to be saved in the long term.
Besides, smoking is not synonymous with any business out there anyways, so why try and make a round peg fit in a square hole?
That's like trying to tell me that because I go to a bar, I have to order a drink. Well...no I don't. :rolleyes:
Besides that's just one article.
I also read in a more reputible source that business owners weren't that affected by the smoking bylaw at all... |

The logic doesnt fail because those places allow children under 19. bars, clubs etc that are restricted to adults over 19 allow ADULTS to make the clear concious decision whether or not to enter an establishment. And establishment which is purely for entertainment and thus not vital for daily living such as a bank or a govt building.
In this case, let the free market decide. Obviously there are no non smoking clubs and bars unless the law forces it because MOST CLUB GOERS OBVIOUSLY WANT SMOKING! |

Using public health care as a crutch to support your arguement is very dangerous. IMO you have just made a good arguement against public health care and in support of private medicare. If everyone is going to use that as an anvil dangling over my head to tell me how to run my life id rather pay more for private insurance and have the choice to decide life for my own damned self.
Obviously i think universal access (in a different form from what we see now) is the way to go, but keep making arguements like that and maybe i'll have to reconsider. |

What about the people who don't smoke? They don't pay $15-$70 so they can go in and inhale YOUR bad choices.
If you pay the cover, should you be able to urinate on the dancefloor? No.
Paying the cover isn't a free pass for you to do whatever the you want.

What about those poor souls who like hip hop music but pay cover to go into an EDM club. Oh right, that doesnt happen much because people CHOOSE not to go to those places that they dont like.
Choice, what a concept.
I have a great challenge. Why not put the laws back the way they used to be and all the non smokers who are whining can open their own smoke free venue. If it succeeds then we know that there is a market for it. Whats that? you wouldnt risk something so foolish? I didnt think so.
PS all those worried about second hand smoke and carcinogins should never ever again do the following.....
buy new furniture
buy a new car
enter a place with carpeting
visit a newly renovated building
walk down the street on a busy avenue
sleep with a pillow |

Well instead of letting non-smokers choose whether or not to go to a non-smoking club, the choice has been shifted to the smokers: smoke in the designated areas or get the out.

Yes, because all these things contain traces of ammonia, lead, aceton, nicotine, nitric oxide, isoprene, aminonaphthalene, methyl ethyl ketone, etc, etc, etc.
Doing the those things is nothing compared to having all that blown in your face. |
