damn right. I was born into a yankee loving family during the 80s when they were VERY TY. I always wore a Yankee cap when my friends were White Sox fans or ing Blue Jay fans. Then the Yankees got really good and have been for the last 10 years.
I'm loyal to all my teams, unlike a lot of people. It's just that right now, the Yankees are doing much better than the Montreal Canadiens (hockey), Everton or the Chicago Bears. I couldn't give a rat's ass about basketball.;) |
What an amazing coincidence, imagine the luck of being one of the 12 Yankee fans that started supporting them when they were crap. What are the odds?
ManU fans always say the same thing. "I started supporting them before they were successful". Bull.
If you go out an buy a ManU shirt you might as well get a Mastercard logo tattooed to your forehead. |

I would assume based off your statement, the odds would be 1/12 people. |

Unless you are trying to determine the odds of 'I started supporting the biggest baseball team in the during a quiet period' being picked out the entire Yankees supporter base.
Your attempt at humour was foiled by your intellect. |

In the during a quiet period? Excellent structure.
You say you are here to discuss music, yet it's quite obvious you just want some attention while starting . |

um...are you a retard? I was always a yankee fan. I have seen them every year in Detroit and Toronto since I was 5 years old. If you knew me, you would know that I have worn a Yankee hat since the second grade. I remember the days of Don Mattingly, Roberto Kelly, Frank Balboni, John Abbot...in other words, the late 80's and early 90's when they were crap. you obviously know nothing about the Yankees anyway. They have always had a solid fanbase, even when they're not doing well. My grandpa came over from England in the 50s and started cheering for the Yankees and Montreal Canadiens. Why? Because they were the teams to cheer for back then and it has remained in my family since then. Why do you talk about stuff you don't even know about? I could talk your ass off about baseball and the Yankees for hours.
Besides, I'm a Montreal fan and they're crap...I'm an Everton fan and they're crap. What's your point? Idiot. |

It wouldn't be a major achievement to know more about baseball than me, something that I'm quite proud of anyway. But even then I know of the Yankees. Do they win, or nearly win every year?
Its just funny that the supporters of successful teams always 1) state that they started supporting them while they were crap, or 2)while they were very young, a point I made in my original post. And you my friend don't just display one of these trademark bandwagon signs, you do both! |

no, they don't win every year. They haven't won the World Series in 4 years actually and have only won it 4 times in the 23 years I've been alive. They are the most storied franchise in baseball though, which, if you cared to read my post, is why my grandpa started cheering for them when he began to take interest in North American sports. Is it a crime that this has continued down to myself? Was it wrong that I watched the Yankees on TV or saw them live in Detroit and Toronto with my dad and uncle and cousins as a kid? Is it wrong that I'm going to see them play in Toronto in 3 weeks?
You're basically stating that people only cheer for teams that are good. Every other sport, except baseball...my teams are not even middle of the road in quality. So you're just talking out of your ass. |

no, I'm not. I'm not from Montreal either, nor do I speak French, yet I'm still an avid Canadiens fan in hockey. Though I was borin in Liverpool, I do not consider it my home, but I still cheer for Everton. There is more to cheering for a team or club than having them be your local side. My city isn't big enough to support any big sports teams.
Are you sure you belong in this section of the site? You obviously don't understand what it's like to be a fan of anything.
edit: and if you knew anything about the Yankees, you'd realise that they are the most hated team in all of baseball. |
