Now about the young earth, yes I believe the earth is young and not old. I've never believed that we could simply evolve from a simple cell by random chance. I view the human body as something far too complicated to just evolve over millions of years and we all know carbon 14 and all the dating processes were never accurate in the first place. I do realize that no amount of facts on my part will change anyone's mind, you have to deal with your own fears and problems and your own beliefs. Beliefs are individual and everyone has to make a decision about that at some point, I can't make it for you. I made my mine and I'm happy with my decision and I'm not losing any sleep over it.

Have you ever thought we might just be complex oragnisms that have complex minds?

Religion has this self righteous overtone... first we were the center of the universe, then we are above everyone...its not surprising though... it was written by humans

I considered it but then discarded it like most of what comes out of your mouth. I mean your opinion is one thing but your opinions seem to border on hate at times, your anti this, anti that. Your life seems to be one long rant against what you hate and anyone that has a different opinion is wrong and they should be shown as why they are wrong.

Right... So just because the events in someones life (totally beyond their control) changed where they put their dick, they have to live a life?

You're totally off your face... And you are calling us narrow minded? What a joke :D

Besides, there are so many errors in your religion its not funny. For example, incest is a sin, and yet mankind spawned from Adam and Eve? That means Adam must have screwed his daughter or Eve her son.

I'm all for trying to live a better life and be a better person through religion, I mean after all thats what it is all about. But taking it too far and being a judgemental **** doesn't make you a better person... So how good is your bible now bitch :whip:

Morocco :

-lots of efforts must be made in order to respect human rights , Amnesty International recently compared one of our prisons to abu-ghraib :( secret services still kidnap people without motives and torture them :( we improved a lot in the democracy chapter since we had a new king in 1999 (Morocco is a kingdom) , and i can truly say we're the most democratic country in the arab world and in africa (of course after south-africa)

-radicalisation in the religion , we either have people living like talibans or others living like if they are in the playboy mansion. there's no moderation at all.

-poor people getting poorer (majority) and rich people getting richer (minority).some neighbourhoods look like beverly hills and a few meters away there are ghettos everywhere.

1) English people that think that French people are cry babies when at the same time they never set foot in Quebec and have no idea of the differences and context of Quebecers' revendications.

2) Torontians who think they're the center of the universe.

3) People thinking Toronto feels like an european city.:stongue:

4) Loose morals everywhere in this country, people don't know what honor means anymore (or its something they only saw in some movie).

5) 100Kmh speed limit :whip:

6) Canada = redneck land, everywhere, inside cities and out:nervous:, people are so not sophisticated and well behaved its frightening. Thanks there's some immigrants here and there who show a good example.:disbelief

Great, so instead of answering the question and elaborating on your views, you dimwittedly generalize about your opoponents and make ad hominem attacks. Just to avoid any possible wrong accusations, I myself am not a big fan of gay marriages, but I can at least explain my rationale behind it instead of just saying "I think it's wrong and you're stupid".

1)I live by different standards, you live by the world's narrow minded view of happiness and self fulfillment, where the world says if it feels good do it and as long as you are not hurting others, it's ok. I live by God's standards where his guidelines are what guides my life, he is my happiness and the reason that I have joy.

And how exactly would you know my (our) standards of living and view of happiness? And who are you to decide that your standards are better than ours?

How can you claim that your faith in an entity that has

a) not been proven to exist
b) contradicted itself countless of times
c) caused death and slaughter of millions of innocent people (including babies)
d) explicitely said that it values one nation above others
e) punished people for any sign of independent thought
f) condoned slavery
g) condoned violent acts against people of other religions for no reason except them being members of other religions
h) openly stated that woman rights are lesser than those of men

is more worth than our mostly secular views based on equality, peace, human rights, and science?

2)You view the Bible as a bunch of old people making crap up and you view it as a book with errors. I view it as error free and will always have that opinion.

Will you please give a single evidence as to why we should believe otherwise? If it is error free, would you please explain then why is there no solid firmament that seperates upper waters (sky) from lower waters (sea)? Because AFAIK, space flights went above the sky and somehow they didn't find the huge mass of water. You might also care to explain how Noah managed to fit in an entire bandwagon of world species into a 150m long ark, and how he fed them. It would also be interesting to know how he redistributed the animals to all the contintents, especially ones like the platypus or penguins. While we're at it, you also should explain the existance of dinosaur and early hominid fossils.

3)99.9999% of you don't understand the Bible or Christianity and your tainted views don't hold water imo. You can generalize all you want and most of you tend to do that.

It is you who is generalizing and immediately assuming that we don't posess your level of comprehension, while the facts are that many of us have went through bible classes and realized, unlike you, that the stories there should be viewed as metaphores at best. Even the Pope himself doesn't hold belief that the bible should be taken literally.

4)I'd say nearly 100% of you lack that total sense of fulfillment and you are searching for something to fill that empty hole in your life. The difference with me is that hole is filled in my life and will always be.

Again, how can you generalize about people of whom you really know nothing about? My guess is that you base your theories on yourself, since it is probably you that would be lost and feel empty if you would abandon religion. Such a strong need for guidance by a higher power only shows a great lack of belief in yourself and a lack of your own ideals.

Would you care to provide some evidence upon which you base your belief? You may also explain the early hominid fossils and dinosaurs I mentioned earlier, as well as genetic similarities between species, facts that those similarities become closer as we go deeper into the past where species converge, and some modern mutations like nylon eating bacteria.

Yes, they are not perfectly accurate, but they are certainly not 500 million years off. The error margin is generally not greater than about 10%.

Actually facts do change people's minds, but the problem is that you haven't stated a single one.

That is essentially correct. Unfortunately, however, your decision is not based on reality.

B-E-A-UTIFUL.... i think you said it better than most of us could. i know a lot of people who are religious and when i tell them that there is no prood, whats the deal with faith, etc etc. all they say is, well dont you have faith in scientists. "well, i dont have to. They can give me proof."

i look at the bible the same way i look at the game "telephone" that we played in kindergarten. when someone said something, by the time it came around to the other side, it was completely different. the bible works the same way. over centuries, changes are made and veiws are skewed and although they can all be taken as metaphores, those metaphores are always changing. in 1000 years, if the human race is still around, and christianity is still dominant, they will have completely different views because of how it changes.

something i want a religious person to explain is:

-adaptation/evolution
-where is heaven and hell
-how did all the animals fit on a boat and redistribute
-how did they build the boat out of wood, and somehow make all the logs/peices so close together to keep
them water proof
-what proof do you have of anything
-what kind of "god" condemns 2/3 of the world to eternal damnation because they dont share the same veiws or because they are homosexual, etc.
-what kind of god would allow all the horrible things happen to the human race, even strong believers

there is just far too much wrong with christianity and imo any religion that is based around a creater god(no offense):D

someone gimme proof and i will stop fighting for atheism
