Heres what annoys people about Hondas:
Kids dump 18 grand into the damn things, after an 8-12k purchase, when they could have gotten a car that already went that fast and had some luxury and handling to it.
Comes down to Honda people seem to have no concept of the future, and that they should just make payments on a nice car they will actually still be driving around in the next few years. Id be amazingly embarassed if I was going to lunch with my boss and pulled up in that, or had to take him for a ride in it.
Audis, wrxs, SVTs, bmws, mercedes, etc. Tons of cars out there that are classy, sporty, cost the same and have better internals and interiors.
And if you dont have a steady job to make payments every month on a car, why would you spend what little chunks of cash you scrap together on mods, ESPECIALLY cosmetic ones? |
i disagree. it is a HOBBY. its no different from any other hobby as a matter of fact. i also DJ at the same time and honestly, you can say i am wasting my money away on buying 12" records too since those tunes will be old and played out eventually.
i don't dream or drool over a car like an audi or mercedes. anyone can have a good luxury car but its stock. i'd rather choose to drive something i customized to my own liking. i don't intend to drive people around in this car years from now. i plan to race it in a circuit. eventually this car will become a track car for me while i drive something more comfortable/luxurious for my daily driven purposes when i grow older. again it is a HOBBY to modify a car. everyone has hobbies and some hobbies just cost a lot. perhaps its time for some people to think out of the box?
btw i don't know about you, but for the amount of money i spent including the purchase of the car, i don't think i come close to buying any of those luxury cars.
yes, a lot of us do buy parts that are manufactured the same but its the ENTIRE setup altogether that might be different and requires different TUNING to make things work. in the end, we all just want to reach a goal of making it nice or quick or both. there are a lot of very quick honda's out there that are also streetable and will hold its own in the corners as well, so i wouldn't count them out.
teknohead, but it is a JDM front end. JDM 93-94 integra were the round lights. :)
i know wut you mean though, sigh.. but the newer jdm front is too expensive. :(
yeah the engine shot was old. the spoon uses a 2.5" collector. very long primaries and short secondaries. in a way, its almost like a 4-1 but it still has the 4-2-1 design. |

Good call, rice out a Honda and be original.
Ive just heard everything youve said soooo many times, and 99% of the time, the people end up never going to the track because its expensive and takes a long time, and uses up your whole weekend, and then they eventually sell their cars and get a *gasp* stock car.
Lets say youre going to be in the 1% here that does go to the track. Youll be in the .01% if you have the time and money to make that a smart idea. To maintain the car, keep getting Hi-po parts and tuneups, fixing clutches and trannies as they get torn up, new tires constantly...
Thats not a car you want as a daily driver. So now you have to pay insurance and stuff on ANOTHER car.
Unless youre in your early 30s, most people dont have the luxury of being able to afford that. Its something we'd all like to do, yes, but still...
and the drag strip is a lot different than the track, although they both destroy your car eventually, without constant maintenance.
****
in conclusion, the attitude that this is a worthwhile, totally cheap way to have the best car Evar!!111!one!1 is the thing that is annoying.
Checklist:
Do you drive a Honda: Yes
Do you waste a lot of money: yes
Do you have fun: Yes
thats it, that makes it worth it right there. Its when people start denying any of those that is annoying. I used to have an SVT focus, I ing loved it. Guess what though, I drove a focus...wasnt gonna lie. I said I had fun in it though, and thats what counted. I didnt try to play it up by saying well, it has the mustang cobra 6 speed tranny, implying it very well might be a mustang cobra...

rice out a honda and be original huh? in my opinion, my car is far from rice. where is the altezza lights? the monster carbon fiber hood? the massive amount of performance part stickers? how about windshield fluid LED's? or chrome spinners? hmm... neons? whoa, looks like i have none of those.
i know its personal opinion, you can say my car is ugly but i don't think its fair to classify it as rice. as far as originality goes, i never said i am original. i said i do this to customize it to what i like. that statement has NOTHING to do with being original.
orbax, why are you even still arguing? do you know me personally? do you know about my financial situation? if you have beef with hondas or even my car, that is fine but there is nothing wrong with being interested in a hobby and stop making assumptions that i am just like any other because YOU DON'T KNOW ME.
oh, do you assume that i have to pay full value on everything i buy for my car? do you assume that i cannot do my own tune ups or that i don't have FREE ACCESS to a shop with a hoist and all the tools i need too?
maintenance is not a big deal to me. so you worry about your own little car. :)
how about all the so called bedroom DJ's on this site thinking they will be the next tiesto or oakenfold? they spend hundreds if not thousands on records annually and where does it get them? maybe not even a gig in their local town on a WORTHY weekend night. put it into YOUR perspective, they are probably just wasting their money.
or are they? it is their hobby (mine too) and we learn to respect that. i don't see why you cannot understand this point. i, too, have come across a lot of people like you and it never ceases to amaze me how ignorant some of you can be. ricers don't represent the whole import scene.
yes, i drive a honda. yes, i spend quite a significant amount of money but i doubt its not as much as YOU assume that i have spent. yes, i am having fun. there, i meet all the requirements of driving and honda and not being 'annoying' as you would put it. so why are you trashing my thread by questioning my hobby?
i don't put type r interior stuff and called my car a type r. do you see any type r decals? did i say my car was a type r? read the thread title, it states INTEGRA GS-R!
just so you know, my friends are trying to setup something at the local race track. if all goes well, it will be as fun as the ITR EXPO that happens ANNUALLY!. oh god! there are people that actually take their daily driven integras out to the circuit. oooh my! parish the thought!
I NEVER SAID MY CAR OR HONDAS ARE THE BEST EVER! OR THAT WE DO THIS SO WE CAN HAVE THE BEST FOR CHEAP EITHER! THIS IS YOUR IGNORANT ASSUMPTION ONCE MORE.
i've been really humble about my car and other hondas. you sir, on the other hand have brought your sucky negative attitude towards imports and influenced it on my thread that had NOTHING to do with ricers and bad attitude. gg orbax, j00 teh pwned! :haha: |

I actually never said about you, chief. I was saying why a lot of people hate Hondas. I used your thread as a medium, and if you take that to mean it was directed at you, youre pretty insecure.
I dont have a car, I rolled it off a cliff, i ride a motorcycle now...a Honda.
Scottalicious, off queer.
There, I think that covers everything. |
