liebing will be packed for sure

im not that sure about clarke
not so many people know him

anyways...aria without techno wouldnt be aria anymore

while I believe that can very well be true... my own experience with the 'older' tech heads, is that they don't bother going out to Aria for a few reasons.. often because the 'headliners' don't entice them.

The argument can be made that some of the bookings this year, Mills, Garnier, and now Clarke, cater directly to that crowd; however I think the reality is that Aria is mostly out of touch with them, and techno for that matter, in part for failing to keep things 'fresh'. Now I'm not talking about booking some obscure dj no one has ever heard of, but the kind of nights that come to my mind that generated the most 'buzz' are ones like Speedy J live PA last fall and the Advanced parties in 02 & 03' (I miss double & triple bill$!!).

It's always nice to have these techno 'legends' get booked.. but at what cost!?? The amount that Mills cost could no doubt have been able to book probably close to half a dozen quality techno headliners, I'm not privy to tho$e details so it's purely speculation. I know what I would have preferred though, given the choice. ;)

Neither of those nights were 'DEAD'.. but definitely not as busy as I expected it would be. It might help even a 'little' if the effort was made to inform people more about the bookings, dj bios, sets etc, (not singling out any promoters, I know you do your job Louis) instead of relying on some phrase like: "Laurent Garnier.. he's back!" to pack your club.

my 2¢
malek
The older crowds don't go to aria because of the hours and the lack of alcohol. Thats the harsh truth.

The older crowds have been used to have a drink then go after-party old Sona style.
