hehe wow, wouldn't like to be in your shoes, specially since the last XP SP2 installation story I read about, 3 out of 5 machines failed to come back up.

Hopefully they've fixed these issues though :p

I got the full copy of windows xp pro sp2 at Xnews
I've been telling most people about this program but the average user doesn't use it. IMO its the best source out there on the Net because you can anything you want ;) Malek you should consider this or maybe you know about this already

For those of you downloading from p2p, make sure the MD5 matches 59a98f181fe383907e520a391d75b5a7 which is the one released by MS to developers.

Xnews is just a news client. What you're able to download with it depends on and only on the newsgroup server you use - it doesn't matter whether you use xnews or Agent or newsbin.

Rogers has okay newsgroups, but I'd hesitate to say you can find everything. Last time I checked, Bell Sympatico has awful newsgroups and almost everything is incomplete because the server has such poor retention. Cogeco is quite good but they don't operate in the Toronto area.

If you want really good news servers you generally have to pay for them. Of course it's a fraction of the cost of the software you can get from them, but it's still not free.

Someone is working on putting up an MS SUS server over here.

its basically a server that has every patch released by microsoft that can be pushed to clients... I am still waiting for the test results in our labs.

SUS is awesome...we're using it here.
Hopefully it'll be a little more friendly in the next version but what do you expect for a free piece of software?

I recommend using SP2 only a computer with good performance, otherwise dont bother. SP2 is really good but it takes a lot of RAM memory and good CPU performance. I used to have AMD XP1800+ which was a decent CPU but ty 512 MB RAM. I highly recommend 1GB of RAM DDR and a higher end manufacturer (OCZ, Kingston or Corsair). Also I recommend a rather faster HDD unless you guys are patient with the loading &

That only stands to reason since they'll be adding background services to run the blocker programs.
I'm sure if you're worried about such things you'll probably have the option to turn it off.
(knowing Microsoft it'll probably be 'ON' by default for all the non-power users out there).

Not sure if we're going to be upgrading yet.
Still some testing to be done since we have a lot of in-house applications... :nervous:
