Cyrus, I'm disappointed with the quality of your rants lately. They used to be so well-put-together, but they're starting to sound more and more like a news report from Baghdad Bob himself, Mohammed Saeed al-Sahaf. Or at best a late-night Al-Jazeera broadcast.

Why are all your emotional and intellectual efforts focused on bashing the US and Israel? Why? I will contend that the US has done bad things, in the name of economics or security. Same with Israel. But why do you hate the US so much? Imperialism is it? What do you have against democratic capitalism? There's no evidence at all that America is currently engaged in "imperialism." It's not even imperialism lite. The truth is that American values, or more generally and more accurately, Western values serve us well and have served humanity well. Perhaps you think Communism, Fascism, Anarchy, or whatever are just as good, and you can justify it based on your post-modernist, moral reletavistic rhetoric. |

I go to this little schwarma shop in ST. Catharines called "Falafal and stuff" and it's run by a bunch of Sudanese people, all Muslim. They all sit there playing dominoes and watching Al Jazeera. They really show alot of sensational stuff, alot more than our CNN or CBC news. It's like a slice of the middle east right in my home town. One time I brought my girl in there for a schwarma and we got stared at while they jabbered away in Arabic, probably because women aren't allowed in those places in their culture...however the service was great...very lovely people.
You see, I like to expose myself to different people and different cultures..whether it's exposing myself to muslim culture or travelling in the States. I am absolutely astounded by the bigotry spewed by all the supposedly enlightened people around here. |
