Next Olympics, USA has 2 options really. Put a team like this together:
F Duncan
F Garnett
C Shaq
G T-Mac
G Bryant
with the backups of
F Carter
F Jermaine O'Neil
C Ben Wallace
G Iverson
G Steve Francis
A team like that would literally be unstoppable, even tho the team they have now should do well.
The other option would be to send the NBA Champs over. Imagine if the Pistons were playing all our games right now? They've played through everything together, so they could adapt and they would know each other as well as the international teams. It's shameful that the US cares more about the name on the back on the jersey than the one on the front. |

The U.S team needs a pure point guard in that starting five(jason kidd or maybe chauncy Billups)
once again Ill remind you guys The U.S wanted Garnett and Ben Wallace and Richard Hamilton and the list goes on...but the players decided they didnt want to go due to "the lack of security or fear of terrorist attack at the games"and theyre a bunch of s for not wanting go.If they dont want to represent our country then them.I still say with the little choices that were left the U.S shoudve gotten a pure point guard who isnt a superstar, and some guy who can actually shoot.
I understand you made that list for the next olympics, but uh the next olympics is in 4 years haha, shaq will be an old fart:toothless
The next Olympics will be in China,I can only imagine the excuses these NBA stars will use not to go.
sigh....

And how do you know if all of those players will accept the invitation to play in the olympics? By the way, Carter is in no way, a bench player. He's one of the greatest Olympic performers ever so he is an automatic starter. |

| hey we beat spain...woo hoo. i only caught the first half because of work. both teams looked really good and its a shame that one of them had to go home but im glad it wasnt us. hopefully we dont get cocky and play half-assed in the next game. |

i had to watch it on Telemundo because i missed the morning session but cause the last couple quarters. They actually played a good game.
I was a bit pissed that the fans booed at the end. Its all nice n dandy to boo your opponent during the game but at the end i think is wrong, and I don't recall us ever booing anyone when the olympics where in Atlanta. To me its a bad gesture.
I thought this was a humorous quote at the end,
"It was said that the public supports the weaker team. I think in this case the public was solidly behind the stronger team because we were the stronger team,'' said Pesquera, who also complained that the officials allowed the Americans to get away with multiple traveling violations" I think this game was played under NBA rules, not FIBA rules,'' he said.
Geez the American team said they lost fair and square to Puerto Rico and Lithuania, be a man and step up and just say you lost. It's not like it was by 1 point but 11.
I think a showdown with either Lithuania or Puerto Rico may be on the horizon. |

| Since they beat Spain, there's the proof that U.S will win automatic Gold. I don't know how many times I have to say that but I hope that it's already gotten through all of your heads. |

Do spain get a second chance cos they finished top of their pool?
Well done to US though, they did good to beat Spain, and they are actually playing more as a team now which is good.
Anyone know any of the other results? |

I have a pretty hard head. Give credit to the other teams that do play some good basketball. And beating Spain is not a proof that they will win the gold. A match is a match, and a tournament is a tournament. That doesn't need to be pointed out. It's something that should be known by any person who likes sports or is in any way involved in them.
Props to US for beating Spain though. Good match. :) |

this link should take you to a site that updates the results of the summer games throughout the day. i think they do it with in 5 minutes of the result.
i agree with you guys that this was just one game. granted that spain was one of the favorites in the tournament, but we have to realize that argentina is pretty good too. hopefully the spanking from puerto rico taught us not to take any team lightly. |

Argentina beat Greece as the U.S will face Argentina tomorrow in the semi-finals. The winner of Lithuania-Italy will face the winner of U.S-Argentina in the finals.
Spain are out of medal contention and will play for 5th and final spot.
It's funny how this thread was created against U.S after like the 1st game in the tournament when all you could do is wait and then make a thread for or against depending on a couple of U.S game results. |
