If i am not mistaken the term "Uplifting trance" died almost 2 years ago...How can you label a genre with a subjective word?
What if i can name you 40-50 PROGRESSIVE tunes that "uplift" me?
Or Techno tunes?
Would they not be uplifting? or just not uplifting to you? The term is absolutely subjective and can not and should not be used to explain a genre of music.
Melodic used to be the term describe "uplifting" but that is another term which makes zero sence to explain a genre. ANYTHING can be melodic, whether it be trance, techno, country, R&B, rap, rock etc etc...melodic simply means a catchy sound that grabs your ear...again subjective.
It is called "EPIC TRANCE"

Hey genius, show me the grave where the word "Uplifting trance" is buried and I might make a useless effort to see your point. Is it dead because Tiesto said so? Oakey? PvD? Grow up sheep and make your own decisions, when it comes to Electronica there are often genre clashes in various areas, and your holy word is not convincing, neither is your friend's.

You can name 50 prog tunes that uplift you? Maybe you're mom would be happy if you told her that, I'll just give you the autistic medal for your achievement. Listen prepuce, UPLIFTING is not about how it makes you feel, it's a way to describe the actual structure and defining elements of a trance track. I understand if you're feeling hypersensitive and you want uplifting to define the emotion a song gives you, but it's only a label when it comes to electronica.
Here's one to tickle your astounding brilliance... TRANCE, what is trance? What is it to be in a trance? Can other music besides "Trance" put you in a trance? Too bad you didn't think of that obscure little detail Einstein. Trance is a label, to describe a type of music, not how it makes you feel.

Hey Sence boy, again, pop that bubble you live in. Whatever word is used to describe the music, it's a label, not a freaking adjective. Melodic most likely refers to the use of a distinct melody in a TRANCE track. Do your friends listen to Melodic Hip-Hop? You're saying Epic because the music "feels" and "sounds" epic, that's how you feel right? How do you manage to read?

Do you need someone to hold your hand? A tech-trance track can be made structurally like an uplifting song, but with techno elements. These elements can include a different use of synths, percussion, basslines, speed, etc. Again, structure, not the name, but structure.

Well, I think there's something out there for electronic music too. Filled with stuff like downdropping and regressive trance and techno is made predominantly with synth-guitar axes. DJ Tiesto is bald and works alongside his sister to produce collaborations under the name of "Girlyella", Moby has a mullet, Paul Van Dyk speaks German but with a Swedish accent, Luke Chable and James Holden are one and the same, arpeggiative technology is traded on the blue market like cats in a cradle, George Acosta is a snack foods maven, and let me look through my scope... oh my, Craftwerk were a band of Canadian sailors who devoted their proceeds to a Beaver Charity.
But you know what else is special about this alternate reality? No one has a problem with genre definitions. :) |

That was funny as , "Girlyella" hah. I'm not fighting about genres, I just really enjoy arguments... well debates rather if you can call it that. Your posts are always very interesting and thought-provoking by the way Aspergian, you write uncommonly well. But regarding genres where would we be without debates?

Thank you Ibiza Dreams, who is a DJ! ;) I do encourage debates and open discussion definitely has a valuable place as long as the conversations are not all-out flamefests that get people hurt -- because of personal attacks. We can respectfully agree to disagree. Of course as you know, sometimes it is like talking to a titanium wall and whatever meaningful things you say are tossed back at you without consideration.

Yeah, I just like responding to people that get outraged over something I say when all i'm doing is giving advice. I'll give them something to get outraged about.
As for the custom title, go all the way to the top, click Profile, then hit Edit Profile, go to Custom Text towards the bottom, I think it is 6 months, but you should be close to it, later bud. |

I 99% agree with that:)
The Mainstream is becoming so lame and boring.
For example:
I got the track "Junior Jack - Stupid Disco" before it was a hit in the clubs and radio. I really liked it because the vocals and the melody was so fun to listen to. After a while, EVERYWHERE I went I heard that track; TV, radio, clubs, parties.......EVERYWHERE. And they played it 6 times a day man!!
I can't hear that track anymore because it's so boring and not unique.

I remember listening to Shapeshifters - Lola's Theme (Alternative Mix) a few months ago until it became one of the biggest hits of this summer (especially on ibiza), hell even a local radio played that track yesterday, I was like: wtf |

So, anyway, to conclude; Uplifting, dream, epic, whatever ya wanna call it = trance with very high and fast notes, with a synth.
Examples:
Binary Finary - 1998 (PvD Remix)
Transa - Enervate
Agnelli & Nelson - El Nino
That's what I think of when I hear the word 'epic', anyway. ;/ |
