You can thank yourselves for yet another Tiesto thread. I'm not gonna name names, u know who u are...
Ppl specifically stated in the Olymipcs thread that Tiesto was gonna do it to make alot of money for the gig, and that he's all about the money. I didnt wanna get into the dicsussion too much then, but now that Tiesto has a new personal note up, you can see for yourself.

When Athoc (Athens Olympic Committee) asked me in October 2003 to play at the opening ceremony, I couldn’t believe it. I thought somebody was trying to fool me. When George and Maria (musical directors) came over to Holland and convinced me it was really true, I became really excited. I knew right away this would be a historical night for me, dance music and for the Olympics of course!
To set things straight, there was no budget for a DJ fee but hey, did I care? I was so honored and thrilled by the idea that I could play my music for 15.000 athletes, 70.000 people in the stadiums, hundreds of presidents from all over the world and over 4 billion people at home, that I didn’t have to think twice.

Dont assume things or make stuff up just because your dont like them. That goes for any DJ, and any person for that matter.
EDIT: I now see that starseacher did post it already in that other thread. I shoulda figured he'd already be on top of it haha. Well, maybe this way more ppl will see it :) Sorry Starsearcher LOL |

I believe the publicity alone has helped the public profile of EDM internationally. This is quite refreshing.
I am not a knowledgeable Tiesto fan but I do know his friendliness is inspiring. :D |

Maybe he did want to do it because it's a cool thing to do and few people could claim anything similar, but, you can't say he didn't think at all about the free publicity he'd be getting (and consequentlymore album sales).
Just a thought. Not a Tiesto bash. |

How do you know he didn't write that to make you think that he wasn't doing it for the money.. and honestly - what's wrong with doing it for money anyways?! Money is money.
I personally think he did feel honoured to be a part of the olympic ceremonies - but even if he did do it for the money, I don't think there would be anything wrong with that :p who cares
If we all found out that Tiesto had done the olympic cermonies for money.. would you really lose respect for him? Dj'ing is his CAREER :rolleyes: |

^^^ I don't think so...if for no other reason than imagining how stupid he would look if it got out that he got paid a ton of $$$.
I could really care less if he did it for free or got paid 25k. It was nice to here Tiesto instead of crap :D |
