023 was off the hook imo, just dirty and no attention whoring
gu026 CD2 was one of the most boring CDs of the GU series, it was boring prog with some breaks and only sasha's mix of in a state saved it. CD 1 is not bad but Lavelle needs to stop being an attention whore
GU020 was off the hook was well, just mean as heck
GU018 had some good tunes but Warren was stuck in a deadend and it is the only GU that he did that did not have tracks with fierce minimal energy to them. |

What I got -
Oakie - New York
Seaman - Buenos Aires (My first GU - in' brilliant!)
Seaman - Cape Town
Warren - Budapest - DOWNLOADED! :eyes:
Warren - Prague (does that count?)
Deep Dish - Moscow
....that is all I have, and I like 'em all. Definitely don't like the Tenaglia and Emerson GU's. |

| I've only heard 7 gu's and own 019. 019 contains by far the most boring music i've ever heard in my entire life. |

| GU26. I haven't heard it or bought it yet, probably for a good reason! |

| 019 is pretty damn good. not trying to sound like an elitest or anything, but you really do have to have an ear for that sound to enjoy it. i thought it was zzzz till i finally started to appreciate it. its very dark, but i like it a lot mainly because of the mixing and the flow in cd 1. digweed just wraps you up in a vortex which i like :) |

No I don't. I find Richie Hawtin - DE9: Closer to the edit to be more interesting and enjoyable than gu019, and that's as minimal as minimal techno gets. It has nothing to do with the simplicity of the sound. It's boring plain and simple.
Maybe if he changed it up instead of letting every track play out for 9 minutes it might have upped my enjoyment a little. Would that it were that way.
Anyways, I thought this was a thread on what GU you think is the worst. Not 'tell people their opinions are wrong' thread. |

I've got:
GU013 - Sasha Ibiza
GU014 - John Digweed Hong Kong
GU022 - Dave Seaman Melbourne
GU024 - Nick Warren Reykjawik
GU025 - Deep Dish Toronto
I'd have to say that the toronto one is the most boring if you only take the original cds in account.. If the afterclub mixes are counted then it is one of the best i own.. |

the deep dish one.... 25, I think. I don't know why, but I can't stand it.
I'm actually looking into buying some of these (I've heard basically all of them through friends, DI, etc), as I only own Involver and Anthony Pappa's Nu Breed CD. But the 3 I want I cannot find anywhere (except online, but I haven't found a decent price on them... 20 dollars plus shipping for a CD is kind of ridiculous. granted if it were like 16 or 17 shipped, I'd jump all over it.) |
