Hey everyone,
I had a blast even though there weren't too many peeps there. That was too bad, such a fine talent like Gielen not playing before too many people. I didn't mind too much though, it was a nice, intimate setting...especially with the decks on the floor. Gielen was a class act, very nice guy, and loving the energy the crowd was giving him. It was nice to finally meet a bunch of TA's, now I can actually put a face to your name, rather than an avatar! :)
I hope everyone enjoyed the time I got to play, I had tons of fun!

Hey Viceroy, too bad I had to leave early in your set, but you were incredible! Awesome track selection, great mixing, just too bad there weren't more people there to apreciate it! I came and shook your hand before I left, I was in all black with white gloves.. Anyhow, Johan was inincredible! The energy he had, all of it was awesome, and the although he was playing for such a small crowd, he was loving it! The BEST track of the night I'd say was Push - The Legacy (Svenson & Gielen remix), HOLY ! If anybody was anywhere near me they woulda seen me flippin the out! Overall I had a great time, and I got to meet lots of TA's!! The couple from michigan, hope you two had a good time, Trancearmada, and I finally got to meet Swamper, a really cool guy, and tons more.. I dunno if you guys are gonna be goin to Ferry, from those who I've spoken to, prolly not, but I hope to see you all again at Tiesto! Peace.

Gielen was Amazing !!! So many wicked tracks !
Lot's of new material too. I loved the location
of the DJ booth! And the fact that there
were so few people, actually added to the vibe I think.
Everyone who was there knew who Gielen was and everybody
was happy !
Was great to see so many tranceaddicts there !
This is a definitely a night I will not forget
for a while...
Hopefully, Tiesto will be just as good ! |

awesome night!!! it would've been great if more people had been there to enjoy it, but that didn't seem to matter at all. it seemed like everyone in the place knew everyone else in some way, great night with friends... just a little hungover this morning though.. anyways, Johan was AWESOME! brilliant tracks, the guy seemed to really be enjoying the reactions from everyone.. sooooooo glad i went!!! definately a much needed night out with great music!
btw... Viceroy's set should be online by the end of the weekend :) |

Great night out! That's all I am going to say. I needed this, I was getting sick and tired of going out to all the clubs in T.O. nowdays and just hearing progressive everywhere.
So I got there at around 11:30 or so. My friend decided not to come with me to this event. He went to Max Graham instead the night before and he was feeling a bit hung over.
Evmac thanx for the hook up again! Really apreciate it. Great night thanx for eveything.
I went upstairs had a drink, than walked around the club till 12 looking for other TA's. Went back upstairs again, and who do you think I see having a drink and chilling? Johan ofcourse. I went over and started a conversation.
I asked him whether he has been to North America before he told me he had only been to the US. Miami and New York.
I asked him how he likes Canada, he told me that he likes it here, later I asked him whether he is planing to come back any time soon. He told me that yes indeed he is planing to come back.
My next question was what were his new projects that he is working on currently at the moment. He told me he is making a new vocal track with some famous dutch singer, or something like that.
He also told me that he had just finished a new remix of "Push - Leagacy" that we all heard at the club. He told me that he is very good friends with M.I.K.E. a.k.a. Push.
I asked him what he thinks of MP3 and the whole idea of pirating them over the web. He just said that it's a good way of promoting ones name.
He had also mentioned that in the next 3-4 weeks he is going to start puting his recorded sets in MP3 on his website (www.johangielen.com).
We had a really nice talk for about 20 min or so, he gave me his autograph.
Than I saw Swamper and DJ Fuzion had a little chat with them and went down stairs. There was not a lot of people at the club around 100-110 or so. That gave it a feel of a VIP only event. :) There was lot's of room on the floor to dance and Johan was right in front of everyone, watched him for a while. He had pretty good mixing skills.

I really liked the part of the set where he played:

Space Brothers - Everywhere I Go (Push Remix) <-- I have not really heard anyone else play this song, I think it's really good and it's been out for a while now.
Than I met the rest of ya TA's finally!
There was a bit of a up, something happened to one of the decks it just did not produce any output. But the situation was under control after a couple of min. Thanx to EVMAC and his crew!
Viceroy you played a good set man. I was the guy at the front for the most of your set. I gave you my lighter, brought you some water and gave you a lolly pop!
You played some really good stuff, it was nice to finally hear Cloud 69 - 69 Ways on a decent sound system.
The only thing I was disapointed with was that the club closed at 4 in the morning, I wanted more!
Now I am feeling a bit hungover, and can't type and write properly.
I had really good time, thanx to everyone, it was a nice atmosphere combined with good music.
P.S. Johan gave me his autograph, he signed his promotional flyer. I will try to scan it sometimes tomorow. Right now I can't think straight and my head is hurting me at the momemt.

WOW!!:eyes: what a night. The music was absolutely phenomenal, this has got to be the best set i have ever been to so far. Johan and Viceroy were just ecstatic, filling the club with music so blissfull and devine that it was all to easy to trancend the bounderies of time and space. Being "in the moment" as they say. I guess that I have been immersed in the all to progressive scene here in TO for so long, that hearing some uplifting trance for a change had a profound impact on me. Loved it from the begining to the end, although I wish that the club would have remained open for just a little longer. As for the crowd, at first I was a little shocked at the number of people that have showed up. However, over time I kind of become fond of the intimacy of the crowd and the feeling that all who attended were true advocates of the music. I finally got to meet some other TA's like tracearmada, tranceboy, articboy, and a few others. BTW, thanks for the lift home :) Overall, it was a wonderful night, great tunes, great people and a very pleasant vibe.
P.S Viceroy, if you can do me a favor and tell me the name of the last track that you played. I know that I asked you as you were finishing up, but unfortunately as I woke up it just slipped my mind. Thanks. |

| Had me an excellent time. Sat up at the front and watched Gielen the entire time, unbelieveable! I liked the small crowd but I disliked it as well. I wish more people would have been there so they could appreciate the man as I did but oh well. I hope he wasn't disappointed in anyway and comes back soon. Friends didn't want to stick around much longer after Viceroy came on so I had to leave unfortunately. (nothing to do with Viceroy, they just wanted to go home) |

Just got home from dropping off Johan at the airport.
For those who could attend last night it was simply amazing...
This man played in front of barely 100 people and still rocked the place like there was 10000. His skills are unbelievable. Dont worry for those who missed it he will be back, you can guarantee that.
It was great meating up with some of you TA's. Trancearmada hope you had a great time. Viceroy, you kicked some serious ass after Johan...
Swamper glad to finally meet you, hope you had fun.
I heard Kid epic (HEHE, Jericho) and some others were there, sorry i never met you.
And Hooman, you tore up the dance floor.
Johan just finished recording a set for Dr. Trance, make sure you check it out if you can when it comes out on Technopolis a week from now on 1groove.
Glad people liked the dj setup and the sound system was good i thought. Just too bad it was such a small crowd but everybody that was there had a great time! Johan was not concerned with the amount of people, just the presence he brought to the night. Kind of funny because when Scaife was finishing and no one was really on the lower level Gielen said to RR "Give me 2 tracks and this floor will be filled" he was right.
Really appreciate people coming all the way from the USA down to Toronto. Because of the amount of people the management wanted to shut down a bit early, sorry about that to whomever wanted to stay longer.
Also thanks to Sunny who opened the night for us!
Just want to thank you all who supported us tonight and look out for Illicit Promotions in the future!

What a nite it was, i was a little disappointed that the turn out was poor, but i had an amazing time regardless. Thank you everyone that made my birthday such a great time and all the friends that bought me drinks!! Thanks to sonicstate crew and the buffulo crew, it wouldn't have been the same without you guys.
Viceroy your set was ....ahhhh soooo beautiful, i knew you play epic, I miss that. And the scented candle was a nice touch! What a great idea, intice the crowd with beautiful sound, lights and smell...Sorry we had to leave in the middle of your set. Gielan was awesome, i liked his track selection. I hope the next time he comes, he gets to play at a larger party. But this time the intimate setting was nice.
