Man you guys made me so nostalgic. What I would to go be that age and at that time again. Every tune that came out was an eargasm.

Nothing these days can compare. I wish trance and edm in general were still underground.

trance was definitely not underground in 98'-99', if that was the period you were talking about

a lot more trance in the charts those years than there have ever been

I know I'm repeating someone elses post now, but yeah
tetatdo
maybe your right, I guess what I was getting at is every big name DJ having some ty radio show or podcast where they play astic songs that all sound the same and carry no emotion. it's the "thing" to do.

It wasnt underground then, but i'll tell you what kiss FM wouldnt be playing any sort of EDM back then, save for maybe apollo 440.

it was much more of a sub culture than it is now. That's what i meant by "underground"

It was still very much underground outside of Europe. On the west coast it was very underground in the sense that if you told someone you liked trance or progressive house it always carried the connotation of raver ie mdma user. No place played either trance or progressive house or heck even techno or real house music that wasnt geared toward a raver audience.

totally, alot of people here had no idea what EDM or trance was as well.

This thread is ancient history, for the record. Looking at the posting dates.

There's always a culture difference when Americans talk about "raves" and trance being unknown and underground in the '90s, when to Europeans (and particularly us Brits) it was all over the charts and the radio and you could buy trance compilations in supermarkets.

I like both 1998 and 1999 years for the genre

The era of the blue-ball drop. I remember it, unfortunately.
