The whole day was awesome, started it off with the biggest brunch i've never had in my life,my burps tasted stawberries :toothless ,then went to the piknik electronik with da misstress, awesome stufff as always, left a bit early so i could catch some snooze time cuz i never take any chemicals to dance all night long, all natural baby!!!Arrived at bell centre at midnight, got in at around 12:25,so i enjoyed a bit of desyn's set, sounded really good...wait thats not true cuz THE FREAKIN SOUND SYSTEM WAS BAD,too much bass seriously,my eardrums were pumping like crazy, anyways,we could still hear enough of the music to enjoy.
Digweed dropped some pretty insane stuff, really enjoyed his set, sander was good, didnt enjoy it as much as digweed though.First hour of Ferry was crap,2nd hour he killed me,brought back some classics, wicked stuff, and then deep dish,FREAKIN AWESOME,really digged their set, probably more then their set at BeB.Left at 11am,feet hurted like hell, back also and i had soccer practice at 6pm,WOOPIDOOO,wasnt that fun. Finally gotta share my joy,i saw this EXTREMELY HOT GIRL,she was special, practically all the girl were from noice to HOT,but her,she had a pink top, jeans,a pink white and greek von dutch cap,but when she took it off,her head was kinda shaved and bleached and it was really noice, she looked like angelina joli but like 100 times hotter, inzane im telling you,i just stopped dancing for awhile, just thinking about her,i have tears of joy coming, only eating at subway a 12 inch grilled chicken sandwich with another waiting next to it can make me do that, thank god i have the gift of sight! |

Yes the event was amazing..... Ferry was really sick...He playes many recognizable tunes with great mixing, again except for the 2 second pause in which he had to replay a tune that he had just busted 2 minutes earlier....
Sander was, as always, sick and deep, and amazing....I really enjoyed his set. He was placed in the perfect position to play right before ferry...Which leades me to Deep Dish
I can't beleive my eyes to see that so many people darted after ferry's set or during and didn't stick around for Deep Dish....If they had they would have realized after the first four tracks that Deep dish wasn't messing around. They were absolutely unbeleivable, by far the best time I've ever had seeing them, after the tune "Sacred Dance" off the Toronto GU025 I knew I was in for a set...They then, shortly after, busted this ridiculous remix of the 80's track by Yes, called "owner of a lonely heart" that exploded and I saw crowds of people who had been motionless in the seats rush the floor to dance to this sick track. They made my night! I was tired and sore as hell as well, dancing for 10 hours is not easy on any muscles but Deep Dish kept me going....
I have to metion John Digweed's set. It was, by far the worst set I"ve ever heard or seen him play. I've been to about 5 Digweed shows and never heard such weak tunes....Don't get me wrong, Digweed is sick, but this set was a little weak, not to be expected from the man! Although he pulled it off, just barely, I was not impressed, but I always am when I see him.... I will see him nevertheless next time he's within' 500km of me, I mean c'mon its Digweed.
Overall a sick night, The huge Torches behind the DJ booth Shooting 10 foot flames into the air wasn't too shabby either...
Thanks to 514 for the party, and lets bloody try to get line-ups like this more often!!!! I mean if Aria can do it.......
See you next time friends.... |

Enter the building quite quickly and was in complete awe of the massive dance floor below us. As soon as we hit the floor, i immediate noticed how strong the bass was. Almost took your breath away when you stood close enough to the speakers. Alan Vinet was a good warmup, but really was blown away by Mr. Masiello. Jesus this guy can rock a crowd. He came on at 11:30, and by judging the reaction to the crowd you wouldve thought it was 3:00 at the peak of the party. Dirty, chuggy, prog house that just set me off. Even though his set was kinda short, definately one of my favs of the night. Digweed came on, and at this point the place is livid. So bumpin and full of energy, and EVERYONE was dancing. Something you never see in Toronto. And when its 10,000+ people dancing at the same time, its something that cannot be described in words, but must be witnessed. Digweed got quite dark at times, and his basslines killed me. Then came Sander. For about an hour, i was kind of just feelin him out, not really going full out. But after a little toot on the doobie, Mr. Floorwhore hit the floor and completely went off. I was joined by Andy (Slyguy), and we took to the front stage. It was like an electronic soultrain, people facing off in friendly dance battles trading smiles and gestures and just letting off the best vibe ive ever been a part of. After Sander finished, Ferry came on. I was still going pretty hard at this point, and for the first 3 tracks i was still tearing it up. But realized i would have to save a little bit of energy for Deep Dish, as they were slotted to play for four hours. We sat in the stands, for almost his whole set - i then took to the floor to psych myself up for the journey Deep Dish was about to take me on. Un-ing-Believable. Sleep Dish they were not. So upbeat, lacing us with their patented out of the blue basslines, the boys from DC were in top notch form. Dirty progressive house at its finest, with a hint of tribal, trance, and even breaks (much to Rob's liking). Proceeded to spend every single ounce of energy i possessed, and then some. Stayed right until the lights came on (12:15pm), and Rob and i, the only survivers from our crew, made our way to the exits.

This party wouldnt have been half as good if it wasnt for the great people in our crew. Graham, Rob, Aaron, Andy, Perrin, Alex, Dee, Erika, Malek, Louis, Del and the Foursome from Halifax (especially my weekend dancing partner Erin). This was truly a wonderful experience, and though ive typed alot, word cannot fully describe how good this weekend really was. Til next time Montreal - Keep it rockin, and keep the dancefloor wet for me.....ill be back sooner than later |

I've been to a couple of big events in MTL (Swirl 2002 / Bal en Blanc 2004) so I had an idea of what I was in for - but it was even better than I expected.
Just like Floorwhore said in his review - it is a surreal moment to walk into an arena and to see 10,000+ ppl all dancing it up - something that lots of people like to think is either a distant memory of 1999 parties or only possible in Europe. This was one of the top parties of the year for me.
Arrived an hour into Digweeds set - which I regret - cuz I loved what I heard for the next hour, unfortunately he wasn't able to maintain that energy throughout his whole set -- didn't matter though, the majority of the people in attendance did because the dance floor was totally going off. It is great having a party in a venue like this since those that want to take a break can go into the stands (and do whatever) :stongue: and those who wanna dance can use the space just for that -- no posers standing around -- ahhhh bliss.
Next up was Sander who played a good mix of tunes.. I hadn't heard him in a long time (I think the last time was 2002 @ Guv ?) - but his sound was unique and since I'm not a house head I can't tell you in detail what he played.
I was waiting all night for Ferry expecting a bangin' set but I'll be honest and say I was a bit disappointed... He played all the standard tunes he is known for and in a way it seemed the crowd wasn't as into it, not surprising since it was a party where the majority of headliners played house.. I talked to some people and they were telling me Trance was ruining the party and they were waiting for Deep Dish. I dunno, I think that come 6AM that ppl in there were expecting something harder.. synths and riffs just didn't seem to be doing it.
Up next was Deep Dish... by this time I was tired as all hell so I just sat throughout most of their set.. Owner of a lonely heart was the highlight track of their set for me -- mainly cuz it was completely unexpected.. one of those "wtf am I hearing?" moments so to speak.
This was a well organized event and it showed -- my only suggestion for next year is that they should have some techno in the lineup, you can only listen to so much house all night.
Let's not forget, the amount of HOT women in the place was also unbelievable, partying it up and friendly, I can only express so much in words, pics would be more fitting for this paragraph. :) (Oh ya, to the brunette in the green bikini top from Toronto, if you read this (ya right), leave me feedback, my buddy lost your number.
Thanks Louis & Biggy (for the hookup @ Aria on Saturday) - the drive to montreal was well worth it. |
