WOW, I guess I'm the first one back home, so I'm gonna start this! :tongue3
I'm gonna make this short and sweet casue I'm DEAD tired and have to catch some sleep.
Got to the Guv complex just before 10, parked my car and couldn't believe WTF was going on...:eyespop:  The line was longer than I've ever seen it...and it was only 10!!! :eyes: And I thought - oh I'm gonna come early, no problems, get in, warm up, etc...NOT! :whip:
Thank god I saw some friends in the crowd (fellow TAs of course) and I managed to sneak into the line :p The line was moving fairly quickly though so that was not a problem...although I eventually jumped into a different line with other TAs from Windsor and ended up in the Guv main room instead.
Saw the opening DJ at the Guv main room, Nic Fanciulli, the guy was REALLY great, did an excellent job of warming up the croud, really pumping. About half an hour before Sander was scheduled to go on I spotted him across the stage walking through the crowd and we ran after him...managed to sneak in a few words and grap a picture - he was super friendly :D. Sander did his job, not much to say about him - he really was excellent - great mixing, and awesome video/music coordination.
At about quarter to 12 headed to KH to see Ferry. Mark was ripping the place apart with awesome tunes like White Room and Rush to name a few. I'd say the combination of Sander K and MO was an excellent warm-up for Ferry. Although he was about 20 minutes late - Ferry THE MAN, did not dissapoint. He played a super storming set, a little different than I expected, a little dirtier, a little harder, with lots of techno sounds I'd say. Regardless he played lots of his own productions and some of the all time classics as well. Since he came on late he even stayed on the decks 20 minutes later and REALLY worked the crowd well. I don't think it was as good as last time - I don't know if anything will ever compare to that 8.5 hour set! But he was still AWESOME!
NU-NRG were unreal, SO GOOD!!! And the guys themselves were SO nice as well, I got a chance to say a few words to them thanks to NAT as usual ;).
Stuck around a bit for Infusion - they were good, very interesting but didn't blow my mind - I think I started getting tired and had to jet anyway. It was awesome meeting everyone I met again today ;) Hope you are still there partying hard!
Funny part of the night - One couple was LITERALLY having sex right in front of the stage...They were SOOOOOO HIGH and completely MESSED UP and the girl was hot but she was going crazy :haha: :stongue: She was picking up other girls and it was just totally wild...not a good wild though, it was a little weird.
Setup and decor were AWESOME except the DJ boooth was SO FAR BACK :(
Crowd was great except a few horny guys praying on the TOTA girls :stongue: But it didn't appear to me as overcowded and everyone was having a great time.
The only thing that bothered me was the smoke machine that just didn't stop...it seemed like there was NO AIR in KH at some points. And that jackass that was smoking in front of me ALL THE TIME kinda pissed me off too...must have been JAYX1 :whip: :haha: :stongue:
Great night overall though!!! ;)
Night! |

i'm pretty tired.. but here's my slight off review..
aside from the usual blah blah blah, things didn't seem as crowded as it was last year perhaps because people were forced to smoke outside, and the one way traffic thing was a plus too. tho for some reason each room seemed a lot hotter , possibly because people were actually generating more heat due to the greater amount of space to dance ?
anyhow, the only headliner i caught was a bit of Nic Fanciulli, 30 mins of Sander K, 20 mins of Andy C, and about 3 minutes of Ferry Corsten. if some of you were wondering where i was i was actually inside Charlies most of the nite getting down to some sickass beats. i wasn't too crazy on trying to catch all the DJs since i had seen most of them already this summer when i was travelling, so i tried to spend as much time socializing with people that i didn't know or hadn't spoken too in a while.
i also noticed that a lotta out of towners who i spoke too didn't really know all the DJs that well and were more concerned about just having fun rather than who was actually spinning ..
all in all it was a fun nite and great to see a lot of you again especially a lotta the US TA's that i met at the Summer's End BBQ party the nite before. there were just too many people at this event this year that it was impossible to spend time with everybody, but i hope you all hav fun and come back again soon..!

It was quite and interesting and fun night for me.
Got there early (just before 10) when the doors were opening. Line-up was fairly big. Stayed in the Guv room for a bit, then met up with some of my buddies and split to the Koolhaus for the rest of the night. Came there mainly for Ferry Corsten and Nu NRG. Ferry was amazing, tired me right out (first time ever for me). By the time Nu NRG came on, I had no energy left in me. Had to go outside for a while to cool down. KH was quite packed and steaming hot (at least in comparison to the last time I was there). I was very tired at this point and decided to call it the night at around 5am. Non the less, it was one heck of a way to end the summer before school starts. |

My first party since being back in Toronto after 7months away from home. My god...I was not disappointed. I was in the KH the whole time, arrived right as ferry opened and left at 7:30am.
Ferry - Dirtier then normal, but really kickin. I've never been to a party at guv where a big headliner like ferry didn't close the night.
Nu-nrg - Pure class, i'm very glad I got to see them do a live PA, i'm a sucker for live trance :) If I'm not mistaken their first track was connective, I went totally bonkers after that!
Infusion - I LOVE these guys. Saw them before at system but I think they played for about 2 hours this time vs 1 hour at system. I went up to the guys afterwards and told them about my trip through australia and how I visited their home town, damn cool. Most of the tracks they played are also on their essential mix set. When I heard the melody come in for "The Legacy" I think I soiled myself!
Amazing night. |

Got to guv around 10, waited in guestlist lineup for 15 minutes (thx John). I was in KH for 90% of the night. Mark Oliver did a usuall great warmup. As for Ferry's set - the highlight was definitely when he played "Binary Finary - 1999 (Gouryella Mix)", Punk, and that track that came right after punk (somebody pls ID it - it had female vocals). Nu-Nrg played a pretty good live PA, with choons like w/Dreamland (thats the name i think!) & For an Angel.
For me the act that stole the show was Infusion! I didn't know what to expect of those guys. Thier use of live vocal effects worked very well! Went effin' crazy to hearing Legacy & Girls Can Be Cruel being sung/played live... haha they're cool guys too.
Wanna thank all the TAs who wished me on my bday. You all rule. I finally got to meetup w/Nrg2nfinit (#tranceaddict chat oldskool.. lol "u called my house one time!") & loca/loco.
btw Arturo were you there?? If so, why didnt I see you cRY or dIE to nunrg?? |

I had a good night...nice to have a big crew come out for this one, along with some new people I hadn't partied with before.
I'm gonna get ripped for this...but...overall, the night seemed kinda "blah" to me. The music was very good...the crowd was cool...I had lots of friends around...but no DJs blew me away at all, although Nu-NRG impressed me.
Mark was tearing it up in KH to begin...I almost get tired of saying how @#$@! good this guy is...we're lucky to have him as a resident...caught a teeny bit of Sander...Nu-NRG dropped some good stuff, but nothing close to as fun as their Viva set, from what I've heard of it...stuck around in KH for about half of Ferry's set before hitting Sky Bar to catch some air and air out the drenched clothes (WTF, was their ANY a/c on in KH???)...Ferry is still one of my favourite DJs, especially live, but I'm not feeling a lot of his harder, pounding stuff...meh, he was ok...definitely not one of his better sets for me...heard a good chunk of Icey who was a lot of fun...Infusion...not bad...talented, but not really my fave type of music...Deko-ze...couldn't get up for his set...I was exhausted from MO & Nu-NRG and just could not stay on my feet any longer. spent a lot of time in Sky Bar chatting...cool to see Tordan, RJ, Nat (briefly going through a hallway, lol), Jay, Paul, Max, and a few other TAs.
I had a lot of fun tonight...but more because of the people I was with than the music itself.
time to wash the Guv off and go to sleep...
OCT 10...Armin and Infected Mushroom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :eyespop: |

hey guys.... what a nite!!!!! Ferry ruled the night.....I pretty much stayed all night in the KH. Had seen Deep Dish last year, didnt want to miss Ferry. Ferry played for 3 hours and he brought the house down. NU NRG, I have heard better, but INFUSION were really good....topped the night off with DEKO.
KH was not packed at all...there was so much room to dance. The sound was amazing aswell.
Its 10 am....its time take a nap.
later

I don't really like blabbing, so I will make this short.
Mark Oliver was great!
Ferry, enjoyed most of his set, cept the techno, but that was cool too.
NuNrg, liked their Viva set better, but overall, the venue and vibe was better than Viva, just cause of the sheer size.
Can't believe at 5am how packed the guv is....Im sure glad my night was spent in the Koolhause, since everyone I wanted to see, played there.
Summer's over..dunno what's next...we'll see..... |
