Racism rant! (pg. 4)

Back when I was 13 or so, I got on a bus one day to go to church. I was literally the only white person on the bus, including the bus driver.
I was shunned and made to sit in the back by myself, while they called me "white bitch", "white trash" and other derogatory remarks. GOING TO CHURCH NO LESS!!!

It really made me realize that racism isn't people hating on "minorities" (I don't like that word) but people just hating other people because they are different from themselves.

It all stems from fear of the unknown. But in reality, we are all the same on the inside, we just look different on the outside. Basing your opinion on someone strictly on appearance is a very messed up, materialistic, sadistic method. I at least get to know a person before I make a judgement. And even when I do make a judgement, if it isn't good, I am certainly not going to say so. Why bother?! It doesn't do anything but hurt an innocent person, and make youself a prick!

One of my favourite quotes:
"Tell me about the colour of your soul"

white people aren't the only ones guilty of such idiocy, you know

thats true but you have to be completely blind to not agree that the vast majority of racists in the united states especiall down south are white/caucasian

contrary to some of the other experiences in which some of the people said they grew up in majority white neighborhoods, as one of the only asians in my elementary school in Boulder, Colorado, most of the white kids were curious of me and all ended up giving me a hug:)

60 million british people can't be wrong :p :happy2:

My worst example of blatant racism occured in spain last year, where we were staying in some apartments in the canary islands and some southern low-life scum from london or that sort of area (they were only about 12-15 ffs) started calling a local spanish boy of about 6 and his littler sister a 'paki' and like that, anyway I shouted at them and threw some water off our balcony at the little s then chased them away a bit, there is totally no need for that, but unfortunately the attitude comes from the parents who probably wouldn't even punish them for saying this, the whole world is coming to , but it works for any race, it's just an excuse like religion, but look on a site here where we have ppl from many races & faiths on ta, it's proof that there is a way such people can get together & communciate without being worried about their race or colour being brought into it as a factor. Just a shame it'll never happen totally irl

just to add to this, there are lots of gangs of individual races now in many towns & cities over the UK. One town near to me used to be safe to go down for shopping or bowling when i was 12 or 13 and you'd feel safe, now it's full of groups of pakistanis and iraqis with weapons attacking anyone they see fit, it's pointless and just downright wrong, but what can we do about it

Sorry to hear that, Jackson, this is one of the sad things that happen out of ignorance. Really, when will people learn that there's no such thing as "races"? In fact, what are they?

Definitions by colour? Well, my girlfriend's skin colour is not different than mine - they're of a whiteish beige if we don't sunbath and, after standing under the sun being red for a while, it's tanned. Yet, people insist on labelling us in different races. We got the same eye colour (brown) and same hair colour (black/dark brown).

Eye shape? The corner of her eyes are a wee bit more narrow than mine, and her eyelashes grow inner in the eyelid. That's all the difference there is, which seems to be enough for people labelling us as being from different races.

Culture? She's been Catholic for many years, just like me, although I do study Buddhism. She was born not far from where my mother was born. We both eat Pćo de Queijo and ramen and dance to Brazilian folk music. For some reason, people find it weird that she's a Catholic and dances to Brazilian music and that I study Buddhism and eat ramen.

These labels are nothing but rough simplifications. In fact, while I am white in Brazil, white in the Far East and in Mediterranean countries, I would suddenly become hispanic in North America (despite of having English, Dutch, Jewish, African and Arab heritage too).

Race, more than beauty, is in the eye of the beholder.
