Cultures have ethnocentric tendencies, as a form of protection. In this case, "races" would have a valid excuse for isolating themselves: they wouldn't be like the others, they would be a separate race, and it would soon imply in beliefs of superiority, which, in real life, already emerged a few times out of ignorance. Even if there were "respect" amongst people from different "races", they would avoid a deeper contact (both culturally and, most likely, sexually) so most cross-cultural advances would hardly have happened, as they would "respect" the other way of viewing the world, but would probably consider their way to be more appropriate for them - any alien influence would be seen as a threat to the status quo. This fact itself would endanger the existing "respect" and peace, as seen countless times in the past.
You only fight what is different/threatning. |

i hate living in Westminster california, it's literally little saigon... sure, everyone in the city speaks vietnamese, but i hate it when they talk in front of you, last time, they said in vietnamese that i'm a spoiled brat, stupid FOBS, i told them to go back to their ing little village in 'Nam. they were so shocked that i talked back to them, i told them to go learn english if they wanna stay here.
i hate it when people of the same race degrade each other only because of their difference in generation and culture...

| i know what you mean. us maori's do it all the time, they say about themselves yet they exagerate on small things they think is racist. This maori comedian, Mike King, his jokes are nearly all based around maori, and it's degrading. |

| That's a trend I see among a lot of asian comedians. They tend to base their routines around asian stereotypes. I don't think that in itself is bad because it's just comedy, but when every routine is them making fun of how their parents talked or whatever gets boring. I don't understand how Dat Phan won Last Comic Standing. Every one of his routines is something like "So you guys, you guys should hear my mom, she talk like this, ching chong ching me love you long time." (audience laughs). Get a new bit, Dat. |

it's so true, but since i'm the only asian dude in my group of friends, who live in an asian community,i gotta make my friends feel less like freaks. anyways, i always wanted to be white |

My gf is british born chinese. She was conceived, born and raised all in the same city. She even has a local (farmer style) accent, even stronger than mine. She helps out local schools for fairer education, gives blood....and yet she gets this bull shovelled in her face!
Sorry i just needed to vent.
Here is a pic of her, shes 5'9 so that woman had guts to have a go!
