A lot of people just find a style of music and enjoy it, nothing to do with being an elitist.

I don't listen to the most underground of music, so I don't speak for everyone here, but I think there's so much good music out there that takes effort to find, that if someone's made the effort to find it then more power to them for listening to it rather than all the moneymaking crap the media shoves down our throats.

its not our fault you cant appreciate good music. it has nothing to do with being an elitest. i dont wanna hear some lame 'artist' rapping about bitches, rims, gin and money. id rather it about the music, so off.

Usually going commercial = selling out for the masses, just giving them what they want.

Dave Matthews band is incredible music. I also listen to Smashing pumpkins, and occasionally 2pac (I grew up on that stuff).

Ok fine, but it's just that general attitude from people who always have to start bringing up “REAL rap, or REAL rock..” that annoys me....REAL according to who?

I appreciate lyrics with meaning and stories just as much, if not more than you. you want to hear good lyrics, go listen to any song from ATLiens or Aquemini of Outkast or pretty much any WuTang cd, or a Tribe Called Quest.

I also happen to be able to appreciate a good, mindless hip hop song that just has a great beat/melody and is generally made to get people on the dance floor. so don’t tell me I can’t appreciate good music you stupid bitch, it’s not your fault you have a narrow mind. music is music, it doesn’t always have to MEAN something...if that’s how you feel, then why are you into edm, of which half has no lyrics at all....

see now, you're listening to the old , when it WAS original. wutang and tcq are outplayed. sure it was original, now its not. all the wannabe artists such as outkast are the 2004 version. besides, the artists ive mentioned, well there lyrics do mean something aswel. maybe if you took the time and listened you would understand that. hiphop isnt about how hard life was 10 years ago. who the wants to hear 20 years of that? personally, who wants to hear it? torontotrance is right on the dot. wutang. what they talked about, people liked, wanted more, so they did it. which is stupid and not being original. outkast and wutang are about as good as eminem. its as you said, mindless hiphop. made to get people dancing, and made to sell records.

personally the only cds non-EDM i have were bought before i got into it. i barely listen to anything else than EDM. except for some ocasional ambient/chillout, cause then the D in EDM doesn't apply.

well whatever, this all opinion based...

I love it all...i listen to U2, Zeplin, Usher, Outkast, Ludacris, Tiesto, Destiny's Child, Depeche Mode, oakenfold, you name it...i love music for what it is. of course there are a few genres/artists I don’t particularly care for, but there are so many different people out there, and so just because some stuff doesn’t do it for you, doesn't mean it won't do it for someone else.

music is a healthy escape from reality. for my grandma, it’s Russian classical, for my mother it’s Supertramp or Pink Floyd, for my dad is the Beatles…for me, it could be anything, depending on my mood, my taste is versatile.

so what if someone went a little mainstream to make a dime...that's just me though...
