Join a club of some sort, not a clan or whatever. Like do something inter-school, or out of school like weekend soccer or tennis or some.
Go bowling, go out, go to parties. Meeting people through work and school is pretty damn easy.

2) football/rugby (for the booze buddies)
3) Lan Party (for the gaming freaks)
4) nightclub/surf/singles bar or whatever miscellaneous recreational sceniario that you know you will enjoy.
