I really need to break down and buy myself a new computer. I’m going to have some extra money coming up, but I really don’t want to spend a fortune on one either. I just want something that’s good for surfing the web and one that has a decent size HD for MP3’s and porn..JK about the porn.. hahah
are Dells any good? what about buying a computer from ebay? i only want to spend about 450 max...for now...i'll upgrade later if i have the money.
thanks for any advice. |

| hmmm....i've got a dell right now. i'm not the hugest computer dork, but i think it has like 655 MB of RAM and 40 GB of memory. it works fine for what you want, but i didn't get it for 450. can you even get computers for that cheap nowadays? i think this one was like 650-700...don't remember to be honest... |

well that's why i was thinking maybe ebay...i'm sure a lot of people build computers and sell them online (i used to know someone who made a living that way).
or what about buying one from someone who just doesn't need it any more and puts it on ebay? i saw one listed (dell) that was only a year old and barely used (as stated by the seller) for like under $400. i don't care if it's been used or if it's a year or 2 old. |

| well...i would say that ebay would probably be the best way to find something in that price range. i don't know though...i'm always really hesitant to buy stuff like computers off ebay...that's a lot of money to entrust to someone you don't know ya know? |

forget the whole thing, wtf is wrong with teh monitor? and the keyboard and mouse nevar go wrong, and funk speakers.
but you can usually build a cheap ass one by piecing it together. If you don't really need a hyper fast new processor just get like a 2 ghertzfeld processor.
i just went on pricewatch and pieced this one together for $345
Athlon XP 2600 w/ MB, 512 ram, 160 gig hard drive, ATI RADEON 9550 128MB, cheap soundcard (soundblaster), and a wierd ass case.
then tack on a monitor, and just buy a mouse and keyboard at like best buy since those cheap. then you just mount.....hehe, mount.....evertything in your case turn on, install windows.....and BAM. your set. :wtf:
or pay someone to do it :D.... |

| Dell's cheapest model is $499. But if you go to something that's $599+ it's free shipping, so you're better off that way since shipping is expensive. |

| It depends on what you want. I wouldn't use Dell because they change parts a lot. You never know what you'll get. I work for a computer company and we build pc's. I might be able to get you a deal, but I would need to know what you want. They give me an employee discount and all. |
